The Nintendo of the 3DS era that discounted their consoles on sale at such price basically anyone could get into gaming had been dead for nearing a decade now.
The cost of the 2DS console + Mario Kart bundle on sale ($80) is now the same as the price of one Switch2 game.
Let's be charitable and adjust that past $80 at its 2025 inflation of $110.
Nintendo dosen't massively discount consoles now. It increases prices of everything. They just increased the prices of every Switch1 games in Canada by $5. A few weeks ago they increased the price of the Switch1 console too.
Today's Nintendo rather spend hundreds of millions of dollars in lawfare and patenting game mechanics they did not even create rather than take competition out-performing them with dignity.

Depends what the Japanese Branch does, but it doesn't look good for them either. The great Talents of Iwata's and Miyamoto's generation are now in their late 60s to 70s and looking at retirement, and the next generation have mostly gone off to do their own thing like Sakurai. The result is that leadership is likely to consist of dudes who made it their life goal to climb to the top of a big company, rather than anyone who has any special connection with video games.
I predict a much slower fall where Nintendo starts using its vast war chest to purchase second party developers in an attempt to inject new creativity, before consuming them in the vein of our least favorite American video game companies.
My gut says they stick around in their current form until at least 2035, when they might restructure if the Switch 3 goes poorly. And even then I expect them to pull a Sega and use their vast IP library to make money by sticking Mario or Pikachu's face on every product with a flat surface to draw it on.
Nintendo is now run by bankers rather than gamers, and it shows.

I was disappointed by how little antisemitism there was in Angel Cop. The way people talk about it makes it sound like an A. Wyatt Mann cartoon, but no. Just some basic background bad guy stuff, with maybe two lines of dialogue referencing the Jews directly.
