I would make a saar joke, but really this isn't incompetence nor an accident. This is malicious and just another small component in the ongoing ethnic cleansing of whites.
I wouldn't be surprised if that is the lightest skin color allowed in their character creator. Since none of their characters in games based on fiction can be white, neither can characters based on people IRL.
I was about to make a similar comment.
A lot of Western games these days either make it difficult to make White characters or remove that option altogether.
What used to boil my blood was seeing Centrists make the excuse "Hurr durr, it's the technology.... hurr, it's the lighting engine... hurr, it's the facial capture technology".
We've been playing as White characters since the 8-bit era of gaming (before then, most characters were just blips and blobs). Now all of a sudden the advanced tech that enables us to have photorealistic 3D models can't enable gamers to create White characters???
They seem to be inserting that 'ambiguous' skin tone where it's hard to place depending on the lighting alot into video games nowadays.
Though, in this case, the race-swap is pretty fucking obvious.

I'm pretty sure that's the exact same font from the Saint's Row reboot atrocity. Must be from some font pack, because it's not even unique to these two games.

In any case, I chalk this up more to laziness...though I understand why we'd see it as malice. It'll be fixed.

It's Missouri State. I thought it was Montana--the colors are the same and Montana's teams are called the Grizzlies.
In any case, EA absolutely would slack off with the smaller schools like this. But in Current Year, I get assuming malice.

I would have preferred a white guy with a giant 1970s shoulder-width black afro as the default character if they where going mix racial traits.
Honestly, this would make a hilarious lawsuit and the kid would probably win.
They think that white quarterbacks are a racist institutional practice, meant to hoodwink the audience into thinking that white guys still have a role to play in American football.

Matching up pictures to the facial sliders seems like a a job made for AI.
EA has over a quarter of a century of slider data to match up to trading card pics for every major sport.
They are complete freaking idiots for not having done it already.
