I used to have hundreds of records but my parents got rid of them when I was in the Air Force (to be fair they did store my comic books and sports cards until I could get them). If I had the space and a record player I’d collect vinyl. Right now I have a few records I’ve found at yard sales, the biggest being a Jim Croce record and an Elvis gospel album

Don't collect, but I still have the few albums I acquired before switching over to CDs. Dire Straits/Brothers in Arms, Bobby McFerrin/Don't Worry Be Happy, Huey Lewis and the News/Sports.
Not bad
I actually found Gunfighter Ballads by Marty Robbins at a yard sale, and I couldn't resist. It's an original from 1959.
Have that digitally but would love to have that on vinyl.
I have some stuff, about 1000 CDs, maybe 100 vynils, nothing ultra rare, maybe some 1 of some thousands
I find CDs at yard sales so getting those too. May start getting tapes. If I could find an 8 track player I’d probably get those too lol
I bought this on tape last year. Limited to 50 copies, I got 18/50, which constitutes my only tape purchase since I was a kid in the 80s.
Still, metal bands often do releases like this. That low number does not necessarily mean it's precious or in high demand. I found it quite a long time after the release date. It's not even the best known band with that name lol. But I like the band a lot which is why I got it.
I need a way to digitise it. I actually own a tape to USB device which I thought might do the job but it turned out to be trash and doesn't work...
Cool! I heard that some bands are releasing material on tapes
I dont suggest an 8 track collection. If you do, be extremely cautious and personally examine each cassette for degradation, especially the foam pieces under the tape itself, and never order vintage 8 track lots online unless you are okay with a ridiculous trash-to-signal rate.
Also, 8 tracks themselves suck in terms of quality. I know a guy who said about them: "I only listen to the vocals, anyway". Sounds get smooshed. If you enjoy the little flourishes and subtle graces of attention that the musicians provide in your music, I say avoid 8 tracks!
Well I’d mainly listen to vinyl or CDs. 8 Tracks would just be for display. Same thing I’d I ever had a laser disc
Both vynils and tapes are cumbersome, but at least LPs have some appeal, tapes are quite hard to deal with TBH.
I also have a couple of MiniDiscs
Lawl you got any pokeman cards?
No. Just sports cards
lol i just walked by the card section at target. all the pokemon stuff is gone, half the magic is gone, but its FULL of sports cards ;s..
Yea Pokémon is big business. I wish I had the knowledge
I recently got back into it after 20 years.. crazy fucks these collectors are.
I have about 2 dozen I inherited from Dad when he passed. I have them stashed away.
I have Bobby Sherman’s first album. Must be worth a fortune! 😂😂
Still a cool album to have
I have been collecting House music from the 90's-today, for a few years now! Discogs tells me it's worth around 4k, and a little over 150 records.
I think my most expensive/rare one is Sasha's Involv3r, which is a 3 record LP, worth about 250 bucks.
My favorite is probably Danny Tenaglia's Global Underground: Athens LP, because I have a lot of memories with the CD mix, back in the day. Also maybe Nathan Fake's "The Sky Was Pink," for the James Holden remix. What a tune!
I have part of my collection there and it ranges from 11k to 43k
Damn! How many records do you have?
I have 787 listed there, but more not listed
Cool!!! I love House/Techno/Trance and stuff. I’m out of the loop on current stuff but it’s great music. I had the music generator for my PS1 and made six tapes of that kind of music.
How did you get a hold of the Sasha album?
I actually got it through discogs! I have done a few dozen transactions through their platform and have always been satisfied!
I have about 4-5 vinyls (and 2 more in the post) with no way to play them. Absu, Hate Forest, Windswept, Origin, Inquisition...
I bought CDs all my life, where I would rip them all to digital storage myself after purchase. I'm a freak who still walks around with an mp3 player (although they call them 'HD audio players' these days to justify charging 1000 bucks for the high end). However for the last 5 years my rig is just a laptop with no optical drive, so the actual CDs are redundant. If I really want the files for posterity I can just go to Soulseek, which is still around.
As a pirate it feels cucked to act like purely digital music has any real monetary value, so I won't just buy download codes, but as a metal fan I still value the physical product, with the art and inlays, so I figured if I'm going to continue buying something, it may as well be the vinyl from now on.
I just can't play them. As pathetic as it sounds I don't have an inch of spare space for a new sound system.
Yea I used to burn CDs like crazy and then would download songs off YouTube and put them on cd. Use Apple Music now but when I have the space I’d love to have a massive physical music library
My wife collects a little. I bought her a record player for Christmas, and she grabs stuff when she feels like it.
She's yet to listen to anything...
Speaking of Christmas, the Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole Christmas albums are must haves
I will have to get those.
I have a couple vinyl records and an Audio Technica Sound Burger to play them on.
I only really started buying vinyl thanks to Bandcamp because when you buy a vinyl record you also get FLAC downloads as well.
I originally bought an album by AnalogSweden that had a Killian Eng artwork on the record itself that is no longer available on the Mondo Poster website.
