I was on 123movies last night looking for something to watch and saw a martial arts looking movie with an interesting title and clicked it. Saw it had faggot Patton Oswalt in it and the description made me gag, but the trailer is even worse. I know competition is fierce but this one has to be up there.
"The film is set in the year 2063 AD, when the world faces catastrophe as zealots and extremists wage a global holy war in the name of spiritual superiority.
In a desperate attempt to save humanity from itself, the world’s governing bodies vote to establish ‘The Battle of Absolute Dominion,’ a fierce martial-arts tournament that will determine a champion whose faith will govern humanity and restore peace for the future"
Obviously the guy representing science and humanism wins, not sure I saw a single white guy, drag queen doing the announcing, etc. Hits on a lot of different notes
Yup, it's very rare these days that I enjoy something post 2014/2015. And honestly I still have to bite my tongue and look past a lot of BS because a lot of those are still woke and gay, they just aren't full retard like this is. Going through new movies/tv shows is nauseating
AI is going to invalidate almost everything made after a certain date, and that date is approaching rapidly. So woke retardation will only occupy a very small window in the history of legitimate human entertainment media, all things considered. 80s cinema is going to reign supreme forever.
Lmao seriously, it's so over the top. If it wasn't made by dorks who take themselves seriously and think they are making a deep statement it could have been kind of awesome in a retarded kind of way
With the rise of MMA, we know all these flippy, kicking, fancy styles get demolished by ground based fighters. Judo, Sambo, Wrestling, Jujitsu all absolutely destroy the stand-up heavy styles.
The movie seems filled with the light brown skin tones the lefties drool over
It's definitely not quite as black and white as that, but yeah if you're a striker you absolutely must have great TDD or the ability to get off your back at an elite level. Strong grappling is just so OP that if you cant defend it, it doesn't matter how good your striking is because you'll never use it
Yeah, and Machida especially is a great example of unreal TDD that let his style work. Anderson, Adensaya etc. But in general you're definitely right, controlling where the fight happens is a massive advantage.

Depends on the fighter.
We just recently saw on Street Beefs how an impressive wrestler was bested by TKD/kickboxing techniques due to liver shots and finally a heel hook for a KO:
Between rounds the two wrestlers were mocking his kicks saying "All he has is kicks", but a well placed kick to the liver ends the match.
We also saw how Joaquin Buckley used a flying reverse heel-hook kick to end a match with a flush KO:

It all depends on the fighter and the situation. A lot of times people not expecting the "fancy" stuff is how they oftentimes get caught by the fancy stuff.
Masivdal's five second flying knee KO against Askren is still a testament to that sentiment:

EDIT: That being said, the trailer for the movie above still looks like complete shyte.
Doesn’t mma still prohibit soccer kicks and strikes to the head of a downed opponent? I’ve seen plenty of fights where grapplers immediately drop to the ground and then the strikers just sit there holding their dicks because they’re not allowed to tee off.
Also, striking is pretty much your only chance in any fight against multiple (non-retarded) opponents.
I think the most famous example you're talking about is the Rampage Jackson vs Jon Jones match. Jones immediately dropped low and Jackson really didn't have a counter to it.
I don't really have a answer for the multiple opponents.
The counter to someone deliberately going to the ground is to stomp the shit out of their skull, but I think this is prohibited in most MMA leagues. The fighters are basically taking advantage of rules that exist to prevent them from being killed in the ring.
I’m definitely not some old head boxing fan who hates MMA or grappling. My money is always on the wrestler. I just think the rules of MMA also heavily favor grappling.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that martial arts movies should be easy wins because they're naturally diverse, can have badass characters of every background and have it feel natural and even cool. But for some reason Hollywood has decided they hate them. Too masculine I guess

You’ve given me another reminder why I rarely watch or read anything made after 2014

Yea. Just looking at some summaries makes you roll your eyes permanently
Sounds like a parody someone would make. If done right it could have been hilarious.
Robot Jox has a very similar plot. Except it has mechs and it's about nations instead of religion.

I was speaking in generalities. You get your Machida, or Wonderboys that do well.
Yeah, and Machida especially is a great example of unreal TDD that let his style work. Anderson, Adensaya etc. But in general you're definitely right, controlling where the fight happens is a massive advantage.
“Black and White”, Heh.
Depends on the fighter.

I was speaking in generalities. But yes sometimes the fancy shit lands and can be devastating, like the cage kick from Pettis.

No I get your point. But even in the early UFC strikers were out of their depths, usually.
It's funny because my perception is MMA would prefer knockouts over grappling.

Was it Bloodsport that had the African monkey fighter?
Coconut killer guy. Got taken out by proto-e honda.
Yes.
Not even going to watch the trailer. Not going to subject myself to that.
Good choice. I unfortunately saw the trailer and it turned me gay and jewish.
Alex Winter?
As in Bill S. Preston himself?
I thought he retired from acting years ago, only coming back for Bill and Ted Face the Music.
Not even going to watch the trailer, but is it more or less gaynigger than Gayniggers from Outer Space?
You can't top Gayniggers from Outer Space.
Part of me somehow suspects that the concept was for the fighters to be nude but somehow the studio stopped this.
The hate you give doesn't count?
