Subscribestar exists for a reason. Patreon has been converged for many years, no one using it should be under any illusions about how secure it is against cancellation campaigns.
Getting on it is a hard thing to do actually from what I heard from another creator I know. It's not simple as make an account, seems to he a kinda waiting list though I don't know the details.
Yeah they don't actually let you make a Subscribestar unless you have another account they can verify is earning money already. So if you get banned off of Patreon then you're out of luck.
Some other alternatives are Unifans (Japanese/Chinese) and Boosty (Russian, but has payment issues).
As detailed in the linked blog post, the owner has been kicked off patreon and ko-fi with no real explanation other than accusations of infringing material. Ko-fi reinstated him after he explained the measures he takes to observe TOS and the law, whereas Patreon has essentially told him to go swivel 'but feel free to start another Patreon project with us'. He was making $1300 on patreon but only $20 through ko-fi. Given Patreon's history, this could be ideological.
Catbox is a hosting site I use a lot whenever I need to hotlink a piece of media or show a quick video to friends, without having to deal with the cancer that is social media. I'm not affiliated with the owner nor can I vouch for how safe it is to give him money - payments go through Stripe although there are crypto options available I believe - but for myself, I did choose to sack up and give him a sub after reading his situation the other day. Free hosting is capped at 200Mb then there's a 500Mb tier and one for 1Gb. The community has apparently rallied and almost got him to $1,000 of the $1,488 dollars required for monthly expenses within 24 hours. Thought I'd drop a heads up for anyone else who finds use in the site or might want to support.
It's a bit normie-tier at times so may just be sustained what with various fatigues happening now and pushback towards ideological idiocy ingrained in institutions.
The thing is, this faggot who ran catbox probably was somewhat familiar with chan board culture. He should know he does not represent a mainstream. I'm just baffled so many people from the 4chan days are this fucking dumb considering we've watched tons and tons and tons of people get dePatreonformed by faggots.
Its not that unreasonable. I've made things over the years that were chan-culture adjacent. Tools, scripts, a video site, etc. You make them for "your friends" in the anon world, have a couple hundred regular users, and get used to everything being fine. But then one day normalfags start using it. Now you have 10,000 hits a day, and suddenly soccer moms are hearing about it and now you're on the hook every time something objectionable passes through the service because unlike anons, normalfags will complain. Loudly. Things that were never a problem become huge, existential problems literally overnight and now you have to weigh whether you're willing to put in the effort to keep up with it. Most are not. I'm too ashamed to admit that one of my projects from years ago, an experimental video uploading site called Tortuga, was something I gave up on because it got popular. You have to pick your battles.
Probably because they got away with it for this long, so they assumed they were "safe" from it. Survived the culling, didn't act up, so assumed invisible from the boot.
Its a problem a lot with low end criminals, and its why so many act shocked when they finally get busted for something like smoking pot. And to Payment Processers and Patreon, we are all criminals already.

Why are so many normies not setting up alternative income sources to Patreon? Subscribestar has been here forever.

payment processors complained and patreon bent over like they usually do
