Yeah, it was Capaldi's last season. It had some great stuff, but the Woke insanity hurt it a lot. I liked the robot guy, and Capaldi was an excellent doctor. A great spot to end the show.
And ironically, moving away from that was the start of the decline. And when female fans told them "We want The Doctor to be someone we would want to date and go on an adventure with" at a convention, the BBC rep they sent straight up told them "No, you are wrong. We all know that what you actually want as women is to be The Doctor." This was then followed up by Jodie Whittaker's run, which saw the first domino in the train crash start up.
Because it was cheap ass made. It was an original BBC program to teach kids history and science, so it was on the level as a PBS original program on our end.
Then the power of nostalgia made it a some "special" thing decades later, which led to the revival in the 00s. Which was deliberately hampered into looking cheapass as tradition and fanservice.
I find the show insufferable and awful, but its production history isn't equal to better shows like Star Trek.
Sentai and Power Rangers is a kids show, but they make it obvious there's an adult level to it that kids won't get. The good seasons get that balance really well. Watch Power Rangers RPM as an example. There is absurdity and cool stories that can be both comical and intense.
Doctor Who was a kids show, but it knew how to balance everything really well. I'm watching the human bugs story of Hartnell right now. It's weird and hard because the characters are so foreign, and the budget is Vaseline on a camera lense for a distorted effect. The imagination and ideas are so much fun, it becomes an enjoyable experience.
Good. At this point don't bother with it until someone who respects it comes along or just let it live on in the novels and audiobooks of older doctors. Classic Who can still be found.
He might be gay, he might be a commie, he might have killed dr who, he might, by all rights, probably belong in africa... but at least he is anti-semitic.
At this point nothing of value was lost. The show died years ago.
Omg, there was an episode on this?

Unless they fire the writers nothing will change really. Actually it'll probably get even worse.
Chibnall needs fired into the sun, cruel as that will be to the sun.
Who is a show for kids. Why grown adults in the US obsess over it I will never understand.
Suave Doctors and dumpy female companions for female viewers to self-insert.

Agreed, I never got the appeal. Friends forced me to watch some episodes. It was terrible. Is it liked for some sort of ironic, hipster reasoning?
Was Ruby Tuesday not available?

All sorts of speculation. So far they're claiming it's been renewed and he will be back. But yeah, I think he Rani Way from the truth.
Once or twice?
