I still to this day prefer the OG Dragon Ball and got people speaking about Z talk down to me who never even watched it. I prefer Toriyama when he is doing humor, it's why Dr Slump is one of his best IMHO.
I gave up on Daima pretty early It has some cool concepts and good art but contradicts so much from both Super and Z. I also cannot shake the feeling it is pure nostalgia bait.
Edit: Also, I cannot stand the turn them into children plotline. It was dumb when GT did it, it is dumb now. Undoes so much growth the characters have had.
This reminds me of why I had to tap out of any long running series after a season or two.
I get that it's fun to watch, but the formula gets away from itself. Especially as soon as the show's creator, or show runner, or what have you either leaves, or passes on, it becomes worse instantly.
I haven't found a single show that improved after the creator was no longer running it.
From my understanding super takes place between buu and when goku fights uub. Uub being a reincarnation of buy. This used to make sense, however there’s been like 8 transformations between goku, vegeta, gohan, and even piccolo. Even DBZ ultimate gohan was stronger than buu. Being as powerful as buu doesn’t mean shit anymore. Oh fuck I even forgot frezia’s new gold form.
Which he only got because he finally did some training for the first time in his life that lasted like 2 weeks 🙄 and he was still too impatient to get it working properly so died the first time he used the damn thing!
That’s what I heard back when Super was first announced, but if it was ever true at all, then the idea of fitting it there has probably since been abandoned. Honestly, Dragon Ball from Z onwards is a series of paper-thin justifications for THE NEW STRONGEST BEING EVER to show up, kick ass, and then get surpassed after Goku and Vegeta do EVEN MORE TRAINING. It’s not exactly long on plot, stakes, or world building.
The timeline for Dragon Ball is so retarded I don't even care anymore.
This just further entrenches my belief that a good work of art has a definitive end.

OG Dragonball was definitely better than Z. Just for the fact that fights didn't take 20 episodes.
Same. Loved the originals with Goku, Bulma and Yamcha.
Roshi with the tactical nosebleed remains one of the better fight resolutions in the franchise.
I feel like Dragon Ball was invented prior to a time where people believed that a runaway power-curve could happen in fiction.

Literally every single Dragonball video game ever
They're still making more Dragonball? I thought Super was the last one.
From the headline I guess Daima is more canon than GT was?
For GT Toriyama just drew some characters and fucked off to count his money. For Daima I think he actually was writing some of it.

It's funny that he's still Kid Goku when the entire "thing" about SS4 in GT was it made him an adult temporarily.
