Trump 1.0 tried to give everyone the benefit of the doubt even if they were far out menwomen who wanted to dance naked in the street because teacher said it was good for everyone.
Trump 2.0 knows that the entire thing is full of crap and fuelled by narcissism and he happens to have that down pat.
Gut it, clean it, protect it and educate the next wave so they don't get duped so easily by those who only care about themselves in the here and now.
Best thing to happen to him, and everyone else, in my opinion was that baptism of fire.
Pre summer of love everybody was pretty much in agreement that “diversity” (eg being color blind towards hiring) was a good thing. It wasn’t until BLM and the Floyd riots and then the indoctrination of communism as diversity that it was realized as an institutional power grab.
Now maybe it was always that way as part of the slow walk through the institutions but this was in no way Trump “supporting” wokeness from a pre-covid/pre-BLM ceremony. Especially when he had already stated that Transgenders weren’t allowed in the military.
I agree that Trump wasn’t ever “pro-woke,” but there’s no way “everybody was pretty much in agreement that ‘diversity’ (eg being color blind towards hiring) was a good thing” until they realized it was a grift after Floyd. I knew it was code for anti-white back in 2015, and I consider myself way late to the party politically (all I can say is that I was raised by leftists).
I wonder if people who fanatically defend Trump's first term are now rethinking, seeing what is possible (though he is obviously less constrained now). To me, if you ignore all the noise, it sure looked like George Bush's third term. It's no wonder that people who wanted to get things done backed Ron DeSantis, while those backing Trump hoped against hope that his appointments would be slightly less bad the second time.
I don't think people hold it against Trump as he was NEW to politics and was inexperienced to deal with the machine, coming at it with a more businessman mindset.
This term? He KNOWS where the bodies are, KNOWS who are the snakes and KNOWS if he doesn't purge they will target his family again. So he needed the first term to know what to do.
Ironically it was the Dems that fucked themselves by taking 2020 as they accidentally got rid of ALL the establishment limiters on Trump when they forced him out.

After 2020, I coped by thinking that OK, if he wins 4 years from now, that will be 4 more years that were dominated by Trump. I didn't think it would be this great.

I don't even know what you mean by this or who you're talking about except that you, clearly, think you're smarter than those people.
I'll defend Trump's first term as better than any other president in my lifetime despite what happened. Is that fanatical? I'll defend Trump's naivete in dealing with the swamp because I also shared that naivete -- I'd have tried to work with them in a magnanimous way too. Is that fanatical? I'll defend Trump's misplaced trust in the pharma companies because there was no way most reasonable people would have predicted that they would have lied about absolutely everything and instead produced a literal depopulation weapon, or that the next administration would go full lockdown-jab-mandate-authoritarian.
Does any of that make me a fanatic?
What's happening now is beyond any of my tempered expectations.
Smart has nothing to do with it. Also, I'm not even smart enough to watch Rick and Morty.
I'll defend Trump's first term as better than any other president in my lifetime despite what happened.
I'd actually agree with that, but that's a remarkably low bar. Also, please note that I'm talking about his administration, not about his actions.

Not at all. But you might be misunderstanding my argument. It's not "trump sux cheeto voldemort didnu niffin in his first term". It's that his first administration didn't do much good policy-wise, except standard GOP stuff like taxes and regulation.
What's happening now is beyond any of my tempered expectations.
Hey, we agree about something. What is happening now is beyond my wildest expectations, though it's a shame Matt Gaetz didn't make it.
Do you not recall that Trump’s first term was utterly destroyed by the Russian collusion hoax? He was impeached over literal lies commissioned directly by his election opponent. They completely fucked him over.
It started in 2017 when deputy AG Rosenstein (note the name) wrote a memo recommending POTUS fire FBI director Comey for mishandling Hillary's emails. He passed the memo to Sessions who in turn passed it to Trump. Trump listened to his lackeys and fired Comey the next day. As soon as he did it WaPo published a story about the FBI secretly investigating Trump's "ties with Russia". Rosenstein saw that and said "ohh you fired the guy that was unto you, you must have something to hide!" and appointed Mueller as a special counsel to investigate "russia collusion".
It was an obvious setup from the beginning and Trump fell for it like a baby. He honestly has no one to blame but himself.
Jesus, I'm not a defender of the 90s Democrat and his first term, but this is just utterly disingenuous, even for you.
Trump did more than most people realise while still being a disappointment in certain select areas that matter. Even now while he is currently on a roll, in the grand scheme of things, I think that will happen again this time around where select areas will either be neglected, or just be outright bad decisions. Trump isn't perfect, he isn't god, and everybody needs to remember that while he is an outsider he is still ultimately a politician, and should still be treated as such rather than as any sort of idol. But this blatant revisionism to try and vilify him because you're still butthurt that DeSantis didn't win (and as someone who initially supported him, I'm glad he didn't). The issue isn't everyone else. The issue is you.

Of course. And we'll have to see what sticks. The thing is, they're trying really hard. In Trump 1, the admin and deep state wasn't trying or actively working against Trump's good instincts.
because you're still butthurt that DeSantis didn't win (and as someone who initially supported him, I'm glad he didn't).
...what? I supported Trump against DeSantis when people here were bitching about him and downvoting any pro-Trump to hell (not complaining, just pointing out what people believed).
I just pointed out that it's no wonder that people backed DeSantis, someone who actually got stuff done, as opposed to someone who didn't - at least in his first term.

Even his presidential portraits match the Squid Game meme.
🤣
Trump 1 made the mistake of working with the GOP when he should have been remaking the GOP.
Case in point: John Bolton.
Yeah? And Obama was against gay marriage when he was first elected. I guess we should overturn that too then.
Compromise: overturn both DEI and gay marriage.
That’s really twisting what happened.

The article doesn't talk about Trump itself, but it alleges that Betsy DeVos supported this crap.
DeVos resigned after Jan 6. I wouldn't put it past her.

That isn't a fucking gotcha as you think it is you cunts at WaPo.
...didn't Trump come out in his first time and call CRT, the philosophy behind DEI, rascist?

Don't forget the COVID faggotry.
Trump is responsbile for the russia hoax.

And much, much more - a daily drumbeat of propaganda and hoaxes back when they made a difference.
But my argument isn't that Trump sucks, it's that his first administration wasn't this massive success, particularly policy-wise.
Jesus, I'm not a defender of the 90s Democrat and his first term, but this is just utterly disingenuous, even for you.
