It's not a Christian game. You're just killing extradimensional alien invaders that look like stereotypical depictions of demons. They're not demons, don't actually act like demons, and aren't incorporeal like demons.
Unpopular opinion, but I was not a fan of either of the two modern Doom games. The first one became very monotonous, very quickly since every encounter was exactly the same. The second game with its annoying ammo mechanic just made it awkward to play, not to mention all the stupid jumping and swinging around. I actually have zero hype for the next game because of it
Loved Doom 2016, hated Eternal. Dark Ages looks like another big shake up, so I’ll be there. Id software are the only fuckers who know how to optimize a video game anymore.
2016 hit the sweet spot for me. It delivered the power fantasy experience that I crave in a first person shooter and was enough of a throwback to the days of playing Heretic back in the 90s.
Doom Eternal though? Yeah, fuck all of that. I uninstalled once I clipped through the floor. I don't want a puzzle shooter and I don't want the Doom Marine to have lore beyond "they killed my bunny so now I am going to murder all of Hell".
Agree, I like the idea of the games more than the games themselves. I think they are quite good, just not for me. The first modern Doom was repetitive and not very challenging.
I don't think it's unpopular, and I wholeheartedly agree with you. In fact, I think it's an opinion that is spot on for people who actually used to play FPS games in the 1990s.
My biggest gripe with Doom 2016 were the levels. They lacked the horror vibes of the original Doom trilogy. That was something that really set Doom apart from other power-fantasy FPS games in the 90s like Blake Stone, Chex Quest or Rise of the Triad. Corridor 7 also tried going the horror route and had some cool guns but was poorly designed.
I think Doom 2016 would have been right up my alley if there were fewer arena survival-segments, which is what made it feel so monotonous. More horror-themed levels would have really shaken things up so it felt less repetitive. And as others said, I had ZERO interest in the ADHD autism-driven Doom Eternal. It was just too much.
I love the heavy momentum and feel that they seem to be going for with Doom Dark Ages but I don't like the shield all that much, and I really hate him using one hand for two-handed weapons. It really takes away from it. If you get the choice of not using the shield so you can properly use both hands on the weapons then I might consider getting it.
But good on them for at least having a well-optimised engine that looks good, runs at 60 smooth fps, and doesn't have to rely on fake frames to reach the 60fps margin, unlike UE4/UE5.
Personally I've been a fan of tactical and more complex shooters, rather than run & gun. But I've always like stuff like Tower Defense and Horde Modes.
Same for me. I have a reputation among my friend group as the "Master of Defense", where I specialize in defensive warfare and being an absolute pain in the ass to dig out again. And since my specialty is Defense In Depth, it is even more teeth grinding for them because by the time they get through my first line, I am going "Good luck! I am behind 7 trench lines!"
Needless to say, stuff like Age of Darkness: Final Stand and They Are Billions appeal greatly to me. And a more defensive Doom sounds appealing to me.
play for the journey, not the destination, you'll have a better experience.
one thing about modern games is that, while they are certainly easier, it's become more about getting the player to the destination or the next set piece than encouraging them to have a good time. there's nothing wrong with this, i suppose, but older games like the doom franchise were more about a challenging but fun experience than telling a grand tale. hell, the plots were paper thing most of the time and not that important.
either way, play what you enjoy, not what you think everyone thinks you should enjoy.
They hate DOOM because it provides the blueprint for the quickest way to fix our society.
More it's the cucked Church's worst nightmare since its the most Christian game ever made as what's more Christian:
Being part of a church that fallates globalist talking points and simps for leftism
Or a game where you face hell head on, ripping through demons using all weapons available and destroying through their plans with no compromise.
Though I'm being slightly sarcastic, I think we should remake the Knightly orders, bring back some masculine energy to faith!

Yeah I'm glad it exists but I have no interest in that type of gameplay. To each their own though.

I like the concept of "Stand And Fight"

I'm terrible at these games. They look great, but I rarely get very far.
Apparently there's a Game Journalist mode so you should be fine.
I hope it's IDQFD

But then you see videos of later levels and want to see them...
you'll get there eventually if you keep at it... =) it just takes time.
Which is why Bloodborne is taking forever.
never played it, but the beauty of video games is there's always a way.
...and if you think that game is hard, try playing one of the NES megaman titles for a few hours...
NES Megaman makes dark souls his bitch, just saying...
Just smoke some meth.
Yeah, I tried the prescription kind to treat ADHD. Not a fun experience.
For now.
Not pre-ordering it but if this turns out be not-woke I'm getting it even if it is bad. Already saved money on KCD 2
funny enough, i was just hunting for one of the Doom 2016 teasers (which I can't seem to find now) yesterday.
