The guy who bought his first car for $25 and his second for $50 is going to be quoted for ages. People today can't find a car under 5-7k that runs. These people have no idea what food, rent, cars or houses actually cost people, and how little people make.

Not sure why the people pointing out you can get a car for cheaper are getting downvoted...although some of the tone is annoying, I'll admit. Also, I'm guessing they haven't looked at car prices in a while, as the trend is certainly going in the wrong direction. But you can still get a car for well under 5K. For now.

But both can be true: The economy is shit, we've largely lost the American Dream, people should be able to afford houses and nicer cars if they're working decent jobs full time. We're all getting screwed.

But it's also true...you can buy a car that works well for under 5K. Admittedly, it's getting harder and harder, and we're all getting squeezed. But older Japanese cars are still affordable and reliable. A quick look in my area is showing me '98-'05 Hondas for 2k-3k. Now, a while back that would have been like 1k-2k so, again, the trend is going the wrong direction.

Also, some of those ads were deeply insulting, and they're not even hiding that these cars are for the Poors. Stuff like 'work for four months and you can have a car,' and 'basic transportation,' and 'have a job and 600 dollars, you can get a car!'

Yuck. But, again, possible. And these cars will run forever. To be clear again, that doesn't excuse that we should have better options, and would have in the past. This doesn't excuse our absolutely crap economy. This doesn't excuse what the elites and their corruption have done to the dollar. It doesn't excuse any of that. But you can get a car for significantly under 5K.

Honestly I predict the older cars are going to end up going for more because they won't have all the nonsense of the newer ones.

New cars are underpowered shitboxes with tacked-on turbochargers so car manufacturers can game their Corporate Average Fuel Economy numbers. They're made for the government first, customer last.

Weird because I bought my car under 4k and it runs perfectly. Yall have the same problem I see with most people my age where you're trying to live above your means in high cost areas

Lots of cars under 4k run just fine, but "runs perfectly" sounds like an exaggeration. You're taking a gamble and maintenance costs will be high. If not then good for you man, you got a great deal. I don't think people are "trying" to live in any way, they just don't know how to find those deals. Nobody taught them any different. It's like with the H1B issue. All those Indians have to do is apply to some recruiting company that takes care of everything and tells them what to do and sets them up in America with a job. Why don't we have that? "Here friend, I've got you car and it runs great. Just pay $4000. Your job is waiting in Texas. The pay is 50k. Just take this interview and HR has guaranteed you are in the lead."

I don't think anyone is claiming you should not be commended for working hard and pulling yourself up all on your own, because in spite of disadvantage that's what you had to do and did. Good work. We're just saying it shouldn't be that way and doesn't have to be, and clearly certain groups are on Easy Mode.

It literally runs perfectly lol. Also maintenance cost consist of oil and filter changes every few months. I like how you know more about it than me lmao. There's zero gamble if you have half a brain when it comes to used cars

The cheapest car I have ever seen someone I know drive cost $500, and that was ~25 years ago.

you can find one...you have to keep a close eye on the the classifieds and you can expect a host of problems, but you can find one. Pickup i'm driving was $1k and is pushing 300k miles, but it runs...

These pundits that tell zoomers to work at panda express, reminds me of the similar vibe of "Let them eat cake" in the middle of inflation and just a couple of weeks ago, there was a consideration of passing the H1B bill. Even before that, I've heard of people working paycheck to paycheck barely making a living and here we got all these pundits in their bubbles completely clueless, at the end of the day, nimbys are still part of the big problem in the current western society.

They act like I should be happy for my kids to aspire to work at "panda express" while they give programing positions to pajeets.

Amazing how the most propped up conservative influencers all immediately fall in line with the anti-White agenda. Makes you think.

There is something ive been thinking about that this tweet by Dave is reminding me of now, and it’s one thing I think people around here neglect, but has been made abundantly clear this week.

Which is that these “big accounts” and large networked conservative pundits, the boomers, genxers and older millennials that work for thinktanks or in the con media sphere. You owe them NOTHING. You do not own them any loyalty, perhaps the benefit of the doubt, but only if they have proven to you by deed and word that they are on your side. They are not frogs, nor are they “oldheads” in our sense of the word.

I've unfollowed so many of them over the past year, I expect others will be doing the same. They are like weasely government reps, it takes a little pressure for them to change their stance. Social media representatives I guess in a sense.
