All he had to do was shut up and he might've had a chance at this being successful.
They can never shut up. They have to remind you of "THE MESSAGE."
(((THE MESSAGE!)))
I didn't think the trailer looked all that good on its own. They would need to make it four hours long to be able to introduce all of those characters properly and still have a coherent plot.
There is a miss match between the music and the tone, and the lead actor looks like a greasy Spaniard, or Italian. Lex Luthor is in his twenties again, and skinny? And Kryto the dog is a little yappy grandma dog. I'm not certain how any of these elements are supposed to work together.
Most of this. ☝️
I don't think the actor looks like a "greasy Spaniard or Italian," but I also don't think he has "the look" or "gravitas" of Henry Cavill. And I knew this movies would be a joke when I saw the fucking dog, but then they top it off with Green Lantern's haircut. And of course they had to dig up any obscure black character to shoehorn in there.
In any case, it's a movie made by a confirmed pedophile and I won't be paying to see it, just like I boycotted 'Guardians 3 after the news broke.
They keep wanting to make "Superman is vulnerable and hurting" stories because they bought the "le invincible = boring" meme about him, and will continue to fail because of it. Literally the best part about the lackluster Justice League movie was him waking up and soloing the entire team in seconds, showing why everyone is so obsessed with him being there.
Superman is meant to be the shining icon even in the darkest hour. The inspiration that we cling to to "keep fighting." So show him bloodied and beaten as some metaphor for our country just means we are already completely lost and this is just doom porn.
Years of Comics and Richard Donnor understood this. Precisely why Superman is my favorite character along with Spidey. Now maybe this movie is good, but he could’ve kept his mouth shut.
The past few decades of comics, especially DC comics, have shown how little they understand their own characters and their appeal.
They whine and whine about Superman's invincibility and Batman's no kill rule, when those exist as rocks for you to write a good story upon, not sticks for you to bend to make a good story from.
Also I don't think it had a chance to ever be good. Even without comments people were memeing on how bad it looked. Every part of the character looks like a discount, shittier version of Cavill's.
Which is the problem when you have the literal perfect casting of a character and then try to recast it while that guy is still alive and active.
And Cavill wanted to do a more inspirational Superman. He was the perfect casting short of cloning Reeve.
I really, really want Marvel to cast Cavill has Hyperion just for shits and giggles.

Bonus points if they let him grow the beard.

DC have repeatedly had good stories they tried to adapt, or at least pretend not to in order to avoid paying royalties I guess.
Suicide Squad was Attack on Arkham, with a few minor character swaps, somehow Riddler isn't included but both Joker and Batman still are?
Man of Steel was Superman: Earth One just.
Both times someone decided to change things for whatever reason and they turned a good story into a shitshow.
Superman E1 is almost identical to MOS except the villain is some random rather than Zod who shows up in issue 3 of the comic so isn't rushed to his death then bastardised into Doomsday for shitty references.
Much like with Marvel there are several huge plot points in recent works that are so copy-and-paste not only could they replace significant parts of those movies with other characters but it would very likely have been better in the end. MOS could have used a completely different villain, whether the one from E1 or not. Suicide Squad not only uses the same general premise but also almost the exact same team. The only differences end up being the target, Bid Bad, and a few of the team which are even more interchangeable when you really look at things like Killer Croc instead of King Shark even though the latter of the two is in the second Suicide Squad movie anyway!
Avengers Endgame should have flat out used Nova instead of Carol Danvers for her entire participation in the final fight, and by extension film presence as a whole. Nova would have been on Xandar when Thanos attacked and stole the Power Stone. It would have been a possible vehicle to give him his powers in a similar way Danvers got her from a power surge from the Space Stone. More importantly it would have given Nova 2 things. First off it would have meant direct and personal time with Thanos attacking and wiping the floor with Nova and the rest of the Nova Corps, and second and more importantly an easy emotional weakness to fuck up the fight in Endgame and go full murder rampage instead of actually winning the fight and preventing even more shit going wrong. Because when you watch Endgame again that's what Danvers ends up doing. She shows up, takes out the big ship - which still has to land somewhere... - then after trying and failing to get the glove away goes 1 on 1 with Thanos and plays with him rather than just beating him. Were it Nova doing this because he was enraged at what Thanos had done it would be a far better excuse of fucking up and losing rather than whatever reason Danvers has of simply... not winning because she's shit?
It also would have meant to shitty retcon prequel that turned Fury losing an eye into a joke, yet another chance to kill "Coulson", Stan Lee's memorial screen being somewhere people might have actually seen it, as well as every other disaster that has followed because of the shitshow that is Carol Danvers.
But no, can't go giving the fans what they want, it's not like the popular comics are the reason superhero films work in the first place so why bother adapting the good stories in a way that works well? Better to just hire the same shitty directors to retell the same shitty adaptations like happened when Fox did the Dark Phoenix plot for X-Men twice and let Simon Kinberg write that again after already writing and fucking up X3: Land Stand WHICH WAS THE SAME FUCKING STORY!
Love him or hate him, JMS knows how to write a story from start to finish, which is probably the entire problem with modern franchises that either jump from writer to writer or have execs fuck everything up. Not that I expect his retelling of Babylon 5 to go well in the modern media world.
Captain Manvers was their answer to a shortfall of estrogen in the superhero line-up of Marvel. Unfortunately for them, they used hormone injections to beef up a sexy pin-up model and turned her into a man-beast, defeating the purpose of getting more estrogen in that team.
Nova was just one more casualty on the altar of feminism.
How little they understand their own characters OR how much they've allowed commies to vandalize them?
Issue after issue, book after book, they've always brought in deep red, fist-in-the-air Leftist to "reinterpret" these characters, their motivations and their mythos to conform to their own personal political agendas. Now that's leaking onto the big screen after they hired one of those same Leftist pedophiles to direct and plan the whole DC film universe. It isn't that they don't "get it" ... they know exactly what they're doing!
It won't be long till they make a nigger Morales movie.
They already nigger washed MJ, so they might as well go full Wakanda in it, but guarantee his love interest will be a coalburner.
That's every commercial on TV. They show you a beautiful White women, then smash cut to a black man. Every time. No exceptions.
It's called operant conditioning. Look up an article on “hybrid images" from NewScientist. There was a study that showed a group of participants a picture of a straight couple kissing. Their brains had a positive response. Then they were shown a gay couple kissing, and the brain scans showed immediate disgust.
HOWEVER, the levels of disgust decreased the more and more they were shown gay couples kissing. The brain was conditioned to seeing it and not have such a harsh reaction. That's why piece of advertising shows a beautiful White woman with an ugly black man. They're training people's brains!
The Spiderverse movies already exist. The success of the first one is likely what helped push them as hard into making him the "face" of the games immediately after.
And considering how well received those movies were with the normies, I doubt they'd make a second concurrent series while its ongoing.
Never watched them, but I read they Gwen a coalburner. Is that same Gwen Stacy?
Its all multiverse shit, so its Spidergwen from one of those universes.
And I think its implied she gets with Miles, but this is also "half shaved head, face piercings" while girl, so he didn't get a top quality version.
This is why they've tried to destroy both characters
Superman is just not an interesting character.
Superman: The Animated Series made him very interesting and may be the best existing Superman media.
By himself? Not particularly short of a handful of stories that play well to his character and dynamic, and most of those need a lot of prior buildup that the DCEU doesn't have time to do.
He works best as a foil to a different hero, and in that way he is easily slotted in to grant conflict or resolution to their stories without a need for a genuine threat.
But Hollywood writers can't handle that, so instead its "le subverting expectations" all over again to make him weak and sad.
Wasn't the appeal of the comics the moral fights Superman had as the physical fights were irrelevant?
Most of the time it was him fighting someone equally invincible and losing because he was trying to either protect someone else or get through to them and thereby not at full capacity.
Its why the "World of Cardboard" speech in Justice League was so well remembered, because it spelled it out directly for everyone what his entire deal was.
Bruised and bloodied due to the machinations of radical Big Tech ideologues and DNC lackeys.
this screams of free advertising via culture war
Um this is 10 years late. He already got fired after gotg2 a while back for the same thing.
It's never too late to remind audiences who stands to profit from their ticket purchase.
i can't wait to miss it!
