Until the execs in Sony Entertainment are purged, any acquisition is bad news for the company and property being bought.
How does Sony still have money? I always hear that all their non-Playstation divisions are doing poorly, and that even that is making less money than it used to. And yet they're still able to purchase a company as huge as Kadokawa?
Sony's gaming division is a pretty small part of the company, though it's a bigger percentage now than it was even ten years ago, and it was always about encouraging secondary purchases which would likely also be Sony products. The playstation was created largely to get media players into people's home, because there's a good chance Sony publishes the media and makes the TV/stereo you'd play it on, especially in Japan. The first playstation was a trojan horse CD player, then the PS2 was a DVD player, the PS3 was a bluray player, PS4 was bluray 3D, PS5 was digital and UHD Bluray. For a lot of people, their gaming console was the first or only device they had to play these things.
I'm more worried about the animation branch of theirs personally. I don't see Sony doing anything good in recent time and they would just fuck with everything. Fuckin hell, worst news of the day.
Their software division is entering the dinosaur stage where it can't innovate anymore or is unwilling to maintain a proper customer base, so the parent megaconglo will just funnel profit from their other pseudo-monopoly subsidiaries to buy already existing products to keep that sector of the business alive.

Sony will 1000% make any future Fromsoft games exclusive, meanwhile MS will keep giving all theirs to PS lol
