Like, with guns?
Seriously though, there are only so many token conservatives like Liz Cheney to go around for these shows.
And, as we saw with the election, many people utterly reject those token conservatives almost as much as the democrats. Still have no idea why Team Kamala thought that Dick and Liz Cheney would be a good endorsement to tout.
Particularly since a non-trivial segment of Trump supporters were carved off from Bernie Sanders' base back in 2016, which would of course include a ton of people who still harbor resentment for that family from their involvement with the Bush presidency. This seems an obvious blunder to me but perhaps that's just because I'm part of the demographic that looked at that endorsement and immediately laughed at the absurdity of it. You thought that was gonna do anything other than reinforce my opposition to Kamala's candidacy? Hilarious.
I agree. Hindsight is 20/20. They did it out of desperation. A leading candidate doesn’t need unlikable politicians from the other party to endorse them.
They thought the NeverTrumpers were half of the Republican party and were just plugging their nose to vote for Trump, because CNN and MSNBC told them so.
“We desperately need a straw man!”

"Normal people consume media, too." -no one currently employed at Disney
You get what you deserve.
Disney made their bed and now they can lay in it.
They really thought Democrats would be in office forever, didn’t they?
They invested a LOT of money and time and effort into making it be so.
We're not out of the woods yet. The demographic time bomb is still in the process of going off and ensuring a proverbial thousand years of darkness.
Agreed! Electing trump was Step 0 at best. We still have to undo decades of communist insurgency
Tell them to eat shit and die.
They are only attempting to bury the subversion. They still hate you.
I'm a bit confused about this passage at the end:
They don't give any examples of talent getting kicked out (I can only recall Roseanne and Gina Carano) and finding success, and it's not like it would be so difficult to find a 'conservative' foil for the right price.
Can you name a single Disney animator at all? I can't think of any. Those sort of people can take their skills elsewhere fairly easily and adjust their style to match another, less toxic studio
This.
There's been numerous moments over the last few years where somebody writes an article noting that Disney shut entire studios for certain diciplines, not because they weren't profitable, but because they no longer employed anybody to work in them.
2d animation is one. But there were others too
The guy who made Anastasia was a former Disney guy.
The guys that are in charge of Phineas and Ferb also wrote and drew for Family Guy, SpongeBob, and whatever the sex talking dingo was. Disney as a company competes with Universal and Nickelodeon, while the people working for them go back and forth.
Disney only has one artist for all the animated Disney movie characters. He's mostly used for the theme parks now.
Running off John Lasseter is probably the biggest mistake they made.
Also, when Jennifer Lee was put in charge of Disney Animation, she immediately went to work promoting DEI hires to positions they weren't qualified for. At the same time, experienced animators (i.e. straight white men) were given shit jobs and locked out of promotions until they gave up and left for jobs at Dreamworks and Netflix. She did so much damage that Disney is now offshoring their animation work to Canada because they literally aren't capable of doing it in California any more. It's why Wish was such a shitshow with such terrible animation.
Edit: I almost forgot one thing. Disney tied their employees' bonuses to DEI goals. Every employee would have to list out everything they have done to promote diversity. This had two purposes: to pay their foot soldiers more, and to force conservatives to identify themselves via their lack of participation so they could be fired. This is probably what the article was referring to.
