"Single Source of Truth" is actually an important concept... in IT.
She's basically transplanting that vocabulary and trying to use it on a real society, which is inappropriate.
Computers need a single source of truth because they literally will not function properly if there is more than one source of information. You will get all sorts of bad data, conflicting results, and incorrect procedures with no way to fix them if you don't manage that single source.
However, you should never treat humans like this. A computer's source of truth comes from humans; because only humans can know truth. Society isn't a program you can manipulate. That is totalitarian.
