The hen then harvests and mills the wheat into flour before baking it into bread; at each stage she again asks the animals for help, but they still refuse. Finally, with her task complete, the hen asks who will help her eat the bread. This time the animals eagerly accept, but the hen refuses, stating that no one helped her with her work and decides to eat the bread herself.

In my country the OP's story is called "The Little Yellow Hen". Another version exists called "The Little Red Hen".
It's the same as the original, except the farm is now living under communism. The story proceeds as normal until the hen refuses to share the bread. Then the other animals cry out "You must share the bread in the name of communism!" and eventually the hen relents and shares the bread.
But after that, for some inexplicable reason, the hen never baked bread again.
Leftists hate this version EVEN MORE than the original because it exposes a critical flaw in their perfect world vision: Why create anything for yourself if you're forced to share it with people who don't do anything for themselves?
The Parable of 10 Men is another good one. Maybe not as kid-friendly as talking hens but there you go.
I like some versions where the hen refuses to share the bread, but offers to sell some to the other animals. In the end, everyone gets bread, and the hen gets some cash.
