Seems 40k fans have been mass emailing Amazon about the show, stating either put Henry Cavill in charge of it or don't do it and if they try a Rings of Power, they'll cancel their subscription. They've apparently gotten enough that they're getting human responses than an automated response now.
Be interesting to see if this does get cancelled as Games Workshop is then even more fucked because they pissed off their customer base with female custodes and now have no show deal to try and get a normie audience.
If they have to choose between giving the fans what they or not doing it at all, leftist producers will choose the latter. At great personal expense, too. The streaming model has been a godsend for the cultural Marxists.
Not into 40K, but I'm not for any franchise getting the "Kindred: the Embraced" treatment. (Turned a horror/existentialist game into a freaking CW-type soap opera. WIth plenty of sex. 2ed Vampire explained rather explicitly right on the first or second page about how vampires just can't. Guy in charge of that line wasn't amused. This was 30 years ago.)
Institutional infiltration, the money (especially since it's drying up) isn't the main factor, you have people that ALWAYS need to insert politics in the higher positions of authority in Amazon
You need to look at it from the perspective of an executive.
In decades prior, they added unnecessary romances to every single action movie just because they thought it would add an entire extra demographic of young women to watch a movie otherwise 100% oriented to men. Same with random nudity to most older movies, to just hook young men into seeing anything.
Even if DEI wasn't outright giving them free money from Blackrock type companies, its a loud request and part of what people constantly claim to want. An executive would absolutely hear that and think "we already own the fans, let's tap into the second market and double our sales!!"
A fan's dollar is still a dollar no matter how hyped he is. But an exec sees a fan whose dollar is guaranteed and a possible second and third dollar from a black and a woman by shoving those in there. The politics just give them a good cover for what is blatant exploitation.
Not that they don't believe in it most of the time, but its why its such a deep rooted problem. Because its built off an already existing flaw in these Companies' thinking.
This is the mindset that has killed more franchises than I can count. The owners take for granted that they don't own the fans of a series and don't care that changing things can chase the old fans away. They go all in on a "new audience" and when the new audience fails to materialize and the old audience abandons the new garbage, it inevitably dies.
It also doesn't help that these companies have replace their real talent with useful idiots that 100% believe their own BS. They don't have anyone willing to make stuff for the old fans, much less anyone capable of it.
Is DEI money really worth more than providing what the fans want and get them more hyped for your product?

We're seeing in real time that even their lives aren't worth more than the message, as plenty of Leftists have put themselves in harm's way to literally die to support the DEI agenda. We're not dealing with rational people, but fanatical radicals with an absurd amount of cultural influence due to their control over the media.
I've always been highly skeptical of the claim that Female Custodies were due to Amazon - come the fuck on, people, it was a goddamn 4chan thread of all things - but the more I've considered the matter, the more I've been confused.
The whole thing around female space marines has been a contentious topic. People at GW know this, and while Games Workshop is really fucking stupid, they're not normally stupid in this way. So not only did they drag the whole 'female space marines' non-start out back at shoot it in the head - twice - we have female BETTER than Space Marines.
Yet, there's no female Custodies models, and no plans whatsoever to have any female custodies models. They launched a tactical nuke into the fandom in the most limp-wristed manner possible - via twitter posting and a little fiction blurb in the new codex.
The idea that Amazon has GW over a barrel - and GW knows it, and are freaking out over the entire deal and the devil they've signed a pact with - is looking more and more likely. I'm not sure I believe it, but I really hate how much sense it makes.
Games Workshop is still a piece of shit company, though.
I think they will demand one shirtless scene per season to keep the women happy, then keep to lore beyond that. My wife is happy, I'm happy, it's all good.
I'd rather it not be made at all until the whole woke/DEI thing suffocates itself. It's simply not safe. They may make a good season or two in this climate but by the third it will be handed off to assholes. The Witcher was a warning that they may back off early on to get viewers on board but, like attention addicts, they can't resist keeping their mouths shut for long.
