They've changed the "He's gonna liberate Japan from it's oppressors" part to "He's gonna fight againt those who are plotting against it" https://x.com/kaito2198/status/1792924140569084101?s=46&t=Vn54b6ogAbirAzEriVdC2A

Who is plotting against Japan? other medieval Japanese rival clans?? The only thing Yasuke did was be a slave for one clan in the midst of a massive medieval clan conflict in Japan
Jesuits?
As if ubisoft will ever talk about jesuit subversion lmao, the entire story of Yasuke itself is a jesuit subversion
Sometimes the only "research" they do is asking their grandma and taking her word for it. Just like what happened with Cleopatra on Netflix. They even defended it.
I thought the oppressors were supposed to be the jesuits.
As it turns out, the clans trying not to get massacred by Nobunaga were plotting against him. Lol
Probably because they were getting too many questions asking just who the oppressors were meant to be and realised they fucked up spectacularly trying to insert BLM bullshit into Japan.
OP needed to phrase better- no descriptions were changed after-the-fact, the Japanese description is different from the English description from the start.
Sounds like they knew "Liberation from the oppressors" would go down as a "black savior" statement, thus avoided that terminology in the Japanese descriptions.
Liberation from the oppressors by fighting on the side of other oppressors
The only ones I can think of the time who might be outside forces are Chinese/Mongols or Europeans which out of the two, I'd be the Europeans DESPITE back with Enzio it was mentioned in Embers that Templars controlled a lot of the Chinese institutions.
But it's funny to see their racial profiling at work that black man as protagonist, needs to liberate from oppression and then only realising later he's the ONLY black guy in Japan, maybe most of Asia at the time..
I’ll start my Christmas list early this year. This game flopping will be one of my requests
Wait until Jacob de Zoet shows up and gets post-medieval on their asses!
Fixed.
So the Chinese complained?
Good Lord… they probably had dozens of sensitivity reviewers on that thing along with a woke writing squad and they STILL couldn’t get it into perfect conformity.
The original line was the outcome of the sensivity reviews. They most certainly didn't expect any backlash for the line because in their sick minds a black person is opressed (by default) and him being in Japan makes him Japanese. Somehow.
