Nintendo of America is thoroughly pozzed, and Nintendo of Japan has given NoA its blessing to do all of that censorship or making characters non-binary/trans (Xenoblade 3).
I don't understand this obsession with protecting Nintendo by blaming Treehouse -- a group entirely housed, funded, and enabled by Nintendo -- instead of Nintendo who entirely houses, funds, and enables them.

Because evidence points to the Japanese script not being trannified. These translator idiots have a tendency to overstep their bounds and get away with it until it's brought to the Japanese suits' attention. That's all I mean by it.

I thought Treehouse was based? Didn't they rewrite a lesbian Fire Embelm character into actually being straight and rewritting it as "just a phase" and that Corrin cured her of her homosexuality and turned her into a faithful tradwife? Sounds pretty based to me.

I don't remember this character's context, but I do know that cross-dressing men are played for laughs in a lot of Japanese stuff (and hell, western stuff as well, because men dressing up like women is universally ridiculous).
Can't have humor or levity on this subject though; has to be about a troon pity party instead.
Amusingly, in the past I wouldn't have cared much about them. When I'd see one I'd just think, "well, that's an unfortunate dude." Now that we've been subjected to a decade of this look-at-me nonsense, I think, "stay the fuck away from me, asshole. I'm not using your goddamn pronouns."

In all instances, no one celebrated these freaks. It was a point of mockery and a source of entertainment.

I'm more offended at the fact that they are trying to sell this remaster when it looks so fucking minimally different than the original from 20 years ago.
Dolphin is easier than dirt to set up, Gamecubes and this game itself are buyable for 70$ together, and it has actual fucking vibrant color in a series that would devote itself entirely to fucking color two games later.
This feels like it'll end up like Fire Emblem Fates, where the localization is such a dominant force in the discussion (for good reason) that it completely overshadows the numerous other more egregious issues with the game and ends up "redeeming" it later when the controversy has died and people lose the context to notice these things.
To your first point that’s basically true for every remake. We can sit here all day and maybe come up with 20 amazing remakes like Resident Evil 1. Most are shit. And it pisses me off that gamers accept them and like them. I saw someone claiming that the remake of RE4 is the best version. Like bitch, they ruined the atmosphere you stupid fuck.

English, German: This character is a girl
Japanese, French, Spanish: This character is an Effeminate Boy, and it's played for laughs.
Italian: This character is Transgender.

Also, she's supposed to be a girl. Her sisters calling her a man in the original was them insulting her, and the codex entries about her being a "man" were tongue-in-cheek, acting as if the codex itself was confused about what sex she was, because other people were calling her one.
Source on this? As far as I know the Japanese script is pretty consistent on Vivian being a boy. Does Vivian even claim to be a girl in the Japanese version outside of introducing the group as the "Three Shadow Sisters?"
Upon further research, it seems I was wrong. Vivian is supposed to be a crossdressing boy. Not a transgender, but just a pretty boy that enjoys looking a woman.
But fuck that. The English version of the game is what I grew up with, so as far as I'm concerned, Vivian is a biological woman.

Can kids even handle text heavy RPGs anymore? I've tried with my nephews and they always drop anything I show them because the just hammer the skip dialogue button because I swear, that's just how the youtubers they watch play. They think they're too good for story and tutorials. It's a fucking miracle the older one managed to finish Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but I guarantee he has no idea what the story was. Has to hold his hand to learn how to catch shit at the start.
