Hilarious:
"Open up to a woman? Never," Shaq said.
"No. Never. We don’t. You know why? I’ll tell you why. Because once you do, whenever something go down, they’re going to throw it back in your face. That’s why."
The comments were met with a wave of criticism after they were widely shared on social media.
He didn't have to be proven right that quick, but here we are.
I guess this one doesn't get the benefit of "lived experience" status
lived experience only counts for women, gays and blacks
Shaq is too rich to be black now. He crossed the minority barrier when he became more known by his name than by his skin color.
I think we're in a post-class world now - in as much as social media has torn down a lot of the barriers to access
Very true, you have no idea what I look like, and vice versa, except text.
He's right of course. Problem is you can't be ontop 100% of the time, not forever and eventually she's going to feel like she just settled for you. Used to be that the social contract would keep that in check, to keep things from getting precarious, but that shit's gone. Men are getting "toxic" because they almost have to be, the reality of the situation is toxic
Even if this is true about 25% - 50% of relationships, that's really bad.
It was literally illegal to get divorced without a good reason.
Well a woman would also be completely doomed if she divorced typically, not only that but you usually grew up together, got hitched early, and shared all of the same milestones. You were also the breadwinner, you kept the roof on the house and bellies full; you didn't have to worry about all this shit. The man was THEE man. If you got divorced you were also talk of the town - gossiping hens, flock consensus, etc. It was really, really, really, really bad to get divorced so you made that shit work until it worked given a few snags.
Women really don't need you anymore and everyone is so much worse off for it.
Just one of many reasons welfare programs should be abolished.
However, the emotional street smarts are off the charts.
Individuals tend to react like that when their bottom line is threatened.
This is why guys need at least one guy friend the can shoot the shit with to air grievances.
It's why bars are VERY important even if you don't drink alcohol.
Lifelong teetotaler here. You're starting to make me seriously consider going to one.
If anything, maybe they'll have a pinball machine. The term "barcade" is gaining traction lately...
Just because there's booze doesn't mean you have to drink.
Technically no but no one likes the sober dude.
Arcades and other places are also nice. Coffee houses that weren't Starbucks in Seattle did this as well.
I don't drink either that I'm the 'enteral designated driver' when I go out lol but it helps to just be in a setting where you can voice concerns openly.
The key thing is it being a majority male space, the more the ratio of women increases, the less easy it is to talk.
I don't drink but I still hangout with my friends when they do
Comments are pretty based as well
At my job we have a joke about all tall guys being part of a secret society. Shaq is considered a holy man. Whenever he is mentioned, all the tall guys say ,"Hallowed be his name."
It's going to be fun at work today.
The same Shaq who came to Australia to tell us how to vote in the recent abo referendum?
That was just money - he's a capitalist first and foremost.
how will Aaron Carter ever recover?
He's right. Any sign of weakness is not deemed masculine and that in turn creates both a point you can be attacked against in the future and give her the "ick", an evolutionary trait to men violating masculine norms or demonstrating feminine traits. This is why men are stoic, don't open up to women and no amount of media pressure and shaming will change that. It's part of the human hardware and the human OS and software can't override the laws of nature and evolution.
Silver lining, the feminine men (so many these days) are voluntarily removing themselves from the gene pool.
