You could almost respect the honesty if the government and media simply stated “officially approved protests can cause all the violence and destruction they want”. They treated the truckers like they had been murdering people across the country and Jan 6 was treated like the worst thing in the history of the universe. I hear the Babbit family is suing. Hope they get a massive settlement.

IIRC, the wording mentioning natives specifically had to do with treaty rights of some natives to cross the US- Canada border without a passport.
While the main battleground was on Parliament Hill and while Trudeau lied about its scope, the legislation as written applied martial law to the entire country.

The police separated pro-Israel and pro-Palestine protestors. They brought coffee to the pro-Palestine protestors. There is no evidence they treated the pro-Israel protestors any worse though.
