Reading "Forever" as an adult is horrific when you put yourself into the position of Michael, the young male teenager that the female protagonist has sex with and she then cheats on a few weeks later while she's at camp. Michael is actually in love with her. That's what sex does to you as a young man, for all the portrayal of men as treating sex as something casual, it's a sure way of triggering bonding in the male brain. And she dumps him, callously. Just so she can jump on the next cock.
A book normalising girls treating boys as disposable, to be fucked and dumped based on a change in mood. Portrayed as model for young women to "liberate" themselves from the sexual restrictions of the "patriarchy". As if men treating women as a disposable was ever a virtue under this so-called "patriarchy", yet for feminists that's a virtue.
That was my thought. Surely if you accept the premise that boys and girls don’t have any preferences you can just label every aisle gender-neutral.
Based on the wording of the law I’m guessing they won’t accept that, though. Which when you think of it is a tacit admission that boys and girls like different things.
As per usual, what business is it of the state as to how a private company conducts their business?
You will not vote out this kind of over-reach. This over-reach will not be repealed. Voooooting harder will not change this. The state is not your friend, and never will be your friend.
"Unisex" toy aisles already existed. They were the aisles with all the board games, jigsaw puzzles, Slinky, Play-Doh, Lego, Colorforms/Spirograph, etc were on.
Who exactly pushed for this? I don't care how moronic Californian legislature is, this kind of thing doesn't just appear out of nowhere. Who's the angry culture warrior who went into a store and was so offended by the lack of gender-neutral aisles that they had to launch a crusade to make them mandatory?
Who would be so entitled and meddlesome? What goes on in the brain of someone like this? Do you think they're satisfied with their contribution, convinced they'll go down in history as a bringer of change? Or do they already have their sights set on the next wrong that must be righted?
Well yes, but I was trying to imagine the maladjusted individual who decided this crusade needed to be taken up in the first place.
But the left being what it is, it was just as likely the result of a subversive think tank asking the question 'How can we normalize this further? Specifically, how can we get to the kids?'
easy solution, just stop carrying toys altogether, cite the law and the volitility of the def of gendered toys and the fine then state it was more cost effective to just NOT carry the toys (in store at least). watch how fast either one of two results plays out they make bank off online sales, parents pressure the lawmakers with 2 likely sub results they repeal the damn thing (lol no). or they clamp down harder possably trying to force stores to carry the stock (in which case hello lawsuit).
California is also the place where stealing is legal, as long as you don't steal more than 1000$ at once. Going deeper with online sales would be one way to try to stay in business in that hellhole.
I should really go get some vagrant-looking clothes and wander around stores in downtown Seattle that display obvious political signaling like trans flags and help myself to my totally-not-shoplifting $900 armfuls of stuff.
I would never recommend or encourage that type of behaviour! I would also never go out of my way to mention that a hoodie, a facemask and carrying yourself with a different slouch and demeanour than your usual ones would all be great ways to help ensure that they never identify you!
and they all get stolen $900 worth at a time
Simple solution: Eliminate the boys and girls labels -- these sections are not required -- and label it gender-neutral toys.
Back in the day, I didn't really know the race of authors.
Unless I saw their picture in a book jacket? If I had one of those for the book.
Judy Blume was jewish.

Always another exhausting cohencidence.
Maybe they dictated a book by speaking loudly into their 0bamaphones in public places?
The only black authors I’ve seen are economists like Sowell or political commentators like Williams or Elder.
I don’t know a single fiction writer who is black.

Well I didn't read the law, but I had figured this would please them.

"Pink Toys"
"Blue Toys"
Done and done.

Let me help you out - answer: the shitbag left.
