Maybe it’s unfair but I blame Sarkesian for all of this. Along with gaming companies refusing to accept that men and women tend to like different games generally speaking. I remember there was an assassins creed game where you could choose to play as the man or the woman (of course all the trailers had the woman I think) and the head of the company or head developer expressed disappointment that most players chose the man to play with. Same game where they changed it because the female character got pregnant and it angered the lgbt activists.

It’s a mistake to separate leftist activists from their embedded counterparts in institutions and corporations. All of these people are revolutionaries first and foremost. So from unity on they always had the option to play either male or female. Then Odyssey they decided that the sister was the canonical character and got annoyed when everyone played the brother.
Then in Valhalla they made the default you switched between man and woman because in-game they weren't sure if the character was a man or woman, so it switched at different times figuring most people aren't going to select the option of always male or female and instead keep it to the default.
Jesus... at what point is it undeniably an unhealthy obsession? If people don't want it, you don't goddamn force it on them.

I believe with Valhalla, the vast majority of people again preferred to play as the (historically accurate) male character. Most cite the better voice acting as a reason, but I think it’s just an excuse. Nobody wants to be some Viking chick, getting boned all across England (nobody normal anyway).
Now apparently for their next upcoming game still in the pipeline, there isn’t going to be ANY choice offered. Main protag will be female and that’s that. I’ve already read so many nauseating comments like, “finally a female lead”, it reminded me a lot of the “finally a black superhero” bullshit when Black Panther came out 🤦🏼
I bring it up because apparently the new Assassins game will also feature a black African samurai supporting character who we’re supposed to believe is based on a real historical dude who totally existed (we promise).

The funny thing is you can do a female samurai if you write it right. Blue Eye Samurai was great. But you know they're not going to go this route.

The reason why Sarkeesian wasn't because she was particularly persuasive, eloquent, or well-reasoned. It was because by the time she started her grift, game development corporations were already critically compromised by Leftist ideologues.
Part of that is because Left-libertarianism was historically popular among tech bros. Part of that is because it's illegal for corporations beyond a certain size to not have Leftist bias in their hiring (HR + Mandatory anti-White, anti-Male discrimination in law).
These people agreed with her all along, Sarkeesian and other brain-dead Leftist activists just provide the surface-level rationale
