I'm not really reading as much comic wise as I used to because the genius decision was made to return the X-Men to the "status quo" of being next to extinct and hunted, which require wiping out the majority of the existing mutant population for like the third time and forcing various other stupid plots through in order to set up drama. All this instead of exploring something new because Marvel is incapable of that, much like Disney.
Anyway, the topic at hand, X-Men Blue 2023 has retconned Nightcrawler's parents from Mystique and Azazel to Mystique and... Destiny.

So no longer is Nightcrawler the child of what is basically a red version of himself and someone that is blue, now he's the child of someone who can see visions of the future [badly], and someone blue.
Oh and Mystique is no longer his mother, she's now his father because she's been retconned from "shapeshifter" to SUPREME TRANS OVERLXRD "gene-shaper".
Now there might be some of you that had vague notions of this because it was supposedly Chris Claremont's original idea back in the 80s but the world wasn't woke enough yet for this. Now however, despite Claremont himself being under attack in 2022 with attempts to cancel him, the story has been made canon. Until the next retcon that is.
Eugenics eat your heart out.
Keep in mind these two characters are two of the worst in the X-Men lineup. They are the reason the Days of Future Past timeline happens. It's Destiny's visions and Mystique's actions that lead to the assassination of Robert Kelly and the eventual rise of the Sentinels. More recently the Sins of Sinister timeline happens because Destiny wants to spend more time with Mystique as in every other timeline one or both of them die earlier. That's how selfish they are, plunging the entire galaxy into a nightmare hellscape because they want to snuggle for 5 more minutes.
Naturally, they do it to the devout Catholic character who once punched out Mephisto.
So they changed the reason he looks like a devil from "his dad is a devil" to "he has two Moms".
Probably not the diversity win they were going for...
Oh, that makes sense! So he' simply an unholy abomination, then. That's a surprisingly reasonable explanation.
MY GOD! THAT SECOND PICTURE!
Why is her shirt the same color as her skin????!?!?? You've got millions of colors (NOT FOUR!) to chose from and you choose the actual motherfucking skin color???!? Was this colored by another troon????? Who is editing this shit!!!?!?
Why is she wearing a long sleeved shirt, a t shirt, and a vest? I get layering, but that's just weird. Too much fookin laundry.
Mystique doesn't wear clothes a lot of the time, it's all just her body changing shape.
Obligatory:

If Mystique is now able to alter her genetics so much that she can produce fertile sperm with Y chromosomes, then what's stopping her from making less intrusive and complex changes to her body like changing the shape and size of her brain? Or of copying the genes of a different mutant to mimic his powers?
More recent versions is that she can mimic mutants and use their powers. She is also able to move vital organs for avoid critical damage, is ageless, and immune to disease. Sheβs pretty much turned into a Mary Sue.
Wait, so it's actually canon? Wow, a female character without flaws. How original!
This is modus operandi for people writing female. The head writer of this toilet paper print also wrote a Star Wars comic with another female character Doctor Aphra who is another Mary Sue.
Simple answer is she isn't powerful enough. The concept of an "omega mutant" was changed recently to mean the most powerful mutant with that power. The omega version of Mystique was shown on another comic in the last couple of years fighting Storm and not only changed appearances to look like Storm but could use her powers.
Storm ofc wins the fight because she's turned into more of a Mary Sue than ever, most recently taking out 2 of Apocalypse's children, his actual biological children this time who were his first Four Horsemen, one after the other. Her whole story is just one win after another and trying to take the moral high ground over everyone else and failing because it constantly leads to various fuckups.
The Ultimate 1610 universe Reed Richards did exactly that with his brain, however. The big helmet he wears is more to hide the fact his head isn't normal looking anymore.
Can she also alter her economic factors?
Well, she can alter her sizes, so I have no doubt whatsoever that working as a stripper could affect that.
Don't ask questions. They can't make up answers fast enough.
They actually did answer this in the comic, the answer is she isn't powerful enough. Someone else was but that character died fighting Storm.
But... If you have the genes, you'd have the power. Unless some genetics are too strong to morph to, but that doesn't make any sense either.
I treat comic books like they just stopped publishing them entirely in the early 1990s.
Everything before that is readable, if not good, and serves as a cultural snapshot of the era it was published in if nothing else. The 1980s especially approached the quality of actual literature, which is why they continuously mine those stories as the base for the movies and TV shows.
For the X-Men specifically, it would be in the year or two after they created the blue and gold teams, reformed the New Mutants into X-Force, and completely changed the lineup of X-Factor.
This is the best character they could have chosen.
He looks like a devil, smells like a devil, got brainwashed into attacking a president, and he is incredibly socially awkward.
So they made his trans parents a modern Sherlock's enemy with the power to see the future instead of being intelligent. And an evil supremacist pretending to be a Senator and her "DNA" killed almost her entire kind.
π Well done. π
About that, another comic in the last year or so involving these two ended up establishing them as "the real Sherlock Holmes". Mystique would pretend to be a man, Destiny used her visions to figure things out π
Why do they look so....drugged?
They can do this and get away with it because statistically people are far less averse to lesbians/bisexual women than gay men: https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/lesbians-more-accepted-gay-men-around-world-study-finds-n1118121
They use lesbians as a social wedge for acceptance because women socially don't see lesbians as evolutionary competition and men think lesbians are "hot".
So what you end up with is the perfect media-laced Trojan horse because ultimately a lot of people are stupid.
They will continue to do this whether they can anchor a sliver of believability around the story or not. Cogency doesn't really matter in this case; it's just a matter of promoting this kind of content in as many avenues and as widespread as possible.
There will be a sizable portion of people who will defend this,, too; a sizable portion of Leftists screeching on social media about how this promotes "representation"; and more brainwashing of youth to convince them that homosexuals can "create offspring" (and it's troubling how many Gen Z'ers I've encountered who literally do not understand that it requires a male sperm and female egg to actually fertilise a human offspring, or how many of them think that mammals have more than two genders).
This is all par the course, though. Basic biology, science, and reality no longer matter in today's modern era, and even explaining it to today's youth generation is in itself a challenge because of how brainwashed so many of them have become.
I know this is just a comic -- indulging in the fantasy of "What ifs?" but it's all done in bad faith to push a unified message of denying basic reality that has extended well beyond the realm of comics. It's more-so disheartening when I see these beliefs being echoed in more generalised information circles, which means that the Left's application of Cultivation Theory is definitely working.
not cannon
See, I'd be a fan if they did a darker x-men movie with mystique being that elusive "trans" character who is constantly causing chaos. The issue would be that I don't think they'd go dark enough to include scenes that'd make the audience hate them, like having her transform into dead former x-men/sleeping with their spouses, leading said characters towards suicide after they found out they were duped.
Azazel is also a lame-ass retcon. Baron Christian Wagner is his father.
So much projection...
