Apparently the new Exorcist is another woke flop

I had to evaluate the trailer for one of my survey sites and I couldn’t have rolled my eyes harder when the lady said they needed to rely on other traditions as well as Catholic. The original movie is based on a true event!!!!! Make a movie about exorcism in one of those other traditions!
They did a few, which all flopped, Old Ways I think was one on Netflix. The only good “other cultures” possession movies are Japanese/ Asian, but that’s because they aren’t woke crap and respect lore. Literally all you need for a good exorcist movie is actual heavy lore, crazy bitch being crazy, and a building sense of dread, instead we get diversity and emotional drama…
Yup. The trailer reeked of “current day”
I want a Showa-era Japanese exorcism movie with those paper seals and all.
To be honest, the concept for the Exorcist has always been so narrow in scope that I don't know how anyone could've expected it to succeed beyond maybe two movies. There's really not any surprises to be had when its formula can be summarized in one or two sentences.
Furthermore, you can't exactly utilize the characters to improve the appeal beyond the original film imo.
Constantine on the other hand has a lot more going for it as a concept. Unfortunately, beyond the one movie, maybe the upcoming film, and its original comic runs, it only started receiving attention when the comic-industry milking went into overdrive and woke writers decided to fuck with him.
The third exorcist movie is much, much better than the second.
Was that the one with the bugs?
Nah, it’s the one with Legion.
I need to rewatch. It's been a while. James Earl Jones showing up was my biggest shock.
The Constantine movie was garbage, though. Ruined by the early CGI blight.
Most sequels suck, for good reasons.
Hollywood assholes cannot shake their formula, though--movies that do well must be re-made to capitalize on the hits.
It's beyond me, for example, why so many people turn out for the endless sequels to crap like "Halloween." How many of those were made? Ten?
The first two Exorcist sequels sucked ass, too, and didn't even have the burden of this idiotic diversity nonsense.
John Carpenter praised 'Halloween Kills'? Get this man a room in a retirement home. It's over.
I don't understand how you could screw up Halloween either Carpenter, especially somehow create something as bad as Halloween Kills is in every conceivable form, so maybe you should cut the guy some slack as he was clearly garbage from the outset. And he did all that under your production.
His literal only other claim to fame is god damned Pineapple Express, a stoner movie that even stoners say is good for 10 minutes and then goes so far off what people want that its garbage.
Those Blumhouse horrors that I've seen always seemed to be the kind of movie you know it's gonna be kinda bad in the first few minutes, but you keep giving it "a few more minutes" to see if it gets better ... but there's a voice in your head screaming the whole time, "It's not gonna get better!", but you still wind up watching through anyway. Not quite as bad as The Dark Backward, but almost.
The only movie they've released that almost everyone agrees is good is Paranormal Activity, which was one of the first they ever did and they've been chasing that kind of hit since.
And they didn't even make it, they just helped distribute it.
Oh no that sucks oh wait I don't care and pretty much expect it at this point
Did anyone expect any different? I just assumed it would be a woke dumpster fire like all new movies.
David Gordon Green either makes excellent films or terrible films. There is no in between for him.
Can’t say I’ve seen one that was good
He started out good. George Washington and Pineapple Express are both good movies, although I can't stand Seth Rogen so that ruins PE for me.
I also liked Joe a lot. The problem is for every good film he makes five shit ones. Overall he doesn't seem to give a shit anymore though.
Didn't even know there was a new one.
The new Halloween movies were bad so this isn't surprising. The 2018 was the best and still had a lot of problems. Halloween Ends was garbage and a nonsensical end to a trilogy.
