I guess it’s always annoyed me how these lax on crime people always live in super safe areas. I mean Sowell did have a quote about it being easy to make ridiculous policies when you aren’t the one paying the consequences
This law disproportionately harms whites and Asians as they will be subject to increased interracial violence perpetrated by black and Hispanic criminals whom the state has failed to properly incarcerate.
"People can also be taken into custody ... if police believe a person poses a danger to the community or themselves. Police will have to explain their decision to hold the person."
Translation: Police will put 5x more white/asian in jail as they should just so the stats don't look racis.

It won't work. It's not supposed to work. Just as the various bail charities exist to help criminals skip bail (because neither the charity nor the criminal cares if the charity doesn't get their money back), so too does skipping this step entirely and just letting the criminal pinky swear that they'll show up to court with no money on the line if they lie.
That’s just not true at all, ask any bail bondsman and they have hundreds of stories of people trying to run off. The fact of the matter is the majority of these guys know they are guilty and have no problem fleeing. The “flight risk” bullshit is tv drama, most just go into local hiding until someone gets bribed to out them, costing taxpayers even more…
Bail was an incentive to release a prisoner before trial as the the potential to lose that money hinged entirely on whether or not the accused showed back up in court on the trial date. Imagine if illegal immigrants had to post bail? They wouldn’t magically disappear and never show up for their trial date…
