Even pointing out that per noaa guidelines most weather sites don't meet their standards and so the data "proving" global warming is suspect at best gets you looked at weird.
Same here, british isles, it’s been one of the wettest coolest summers in years, we’ve had the odd day that’s unseasonably warm back in may but since then it’s been rainy and temperate.
You’d never know that talking to people though. “Hottest summer yet” “unbearable heat” “when will it finally end?”
I know people - nice people, actually - who are deep in the climate cult. They were already ranting daily, and freaking the fuck out. I can only imagine how bad it's gotten since the new round of panic induction.
Old hippies are some of the weirdest people. They're generally nice enough, but their passion on some topics turned to anger and even hatred long ago. If I wanted to, which I don't, I'm sure I could get people I've known for years to swear at me, hate me, maybe even take a swing, in only a few words. Simple disagreement on some of these topics which they hold dearer to them than many fervent religious fanatics hold their views.
It's sad. Like I said, they're nice people, but they're also bitter and hateful, and massively indoctrinated. And living in fear because they've bought the false narratives they've been sold.
I know sweet old ladies and gentlemen who hate whites, Christians, conservatives, "climate deniers," gun owners, etc.
And hell I know gun owners who hate gun owners. In one breath they'll talk about going to the range or their latest firearm purchase, and in the next breath about how their range isn't full of crazy MAGA Republicans with AR-15s, and how we need more reasonable gun control laws.
