Commies hate actual communes. Hence the soviet union sending entire Christian communes into the gulags.
They wouldn't survive actual communes, they'd be outed as useless eaters way too fast.
I remember a forum thread where commies discussed what they would do in a commune. Most picked "artist" or "community manager" (read: commissar), but there was one guy that picked "farmer." He admitted he's not that bright so he didn't mind physical work, but his fellow commies accused him of LARPing.
Of course. They always think they're the ones who are going to be cracking the whip. Little do they know their lack of useful skills means they'll be shoveling shit at gunpoint if they get what they want.
Honestly, given that their only life experience is advocating for revolution, I suspect they'll quite quickly find work supporting a building somewhere.

I know a guy who actually was part of a commune at one point, and that's basically why it imploded.
One to three people doing all the serious work, while everyone else just took advantage of them and/or did a half-assed job when it came to be their turn.
Most of society is like that nowadays.

No. Communism would only work if nobody was useless or lazy, and everyone kept up the same work ethic compared to if they were working for personal profit.
Which means it will never work.
And most importantly of all, totally selfless. Everyone becomes lazy when you're busting your ass for almost zero personal gain
Communism only works under three conditions:
Every single person involved is competent and skilled, but seeks no advancement or better life.
Everyone trusts everyone else 100% with their very lives (and be right).
Everyone is fine with no progress or advancements in any part of life.
If any of these three things are missing, communism falls apart.
So it doesn't work?
This is exactly what happened when Bernie Sanders went to a Kibbutz.
