I hear a lot of talk about the potential of AI and Sexbots. Just recently, Russia Today even ran an article on the topic.
What is actually the latest in technology in this realm?
In theory, we should be able to have some sort of virtual reality augment like Google Glasses and like voice AI where you could have a full on conversation with some unlocked ChatGPT AI while having sex with your doll or something. Your doll could be texting you whole you're at work and snapping you nudes and talking about how much it wants you to fuck her etc... Then the doll AI could even describe how hot it was when you were fucking her with like sensors or some shit.
Anyone actually know what the pinnacle of this tech is at the moment?
Edit - Asking for a friend, obviously...
Well then we just need to have a big tiddy tomboy cyborg to combat the milf gynoids. They could have a fight where their clothes get progressively more shredded the more they hit each other.
You know what, that actually sounds better than our current trajectory.
My Opera browser is trying to talk to me about "AI prompts".
Stop it. AI is now fully over-hyped beyond even the 2000's Tech Bubble was reaching. "Artificial Intelligence" is quickly being re-defined to such a broad level that Microsoft is going to start trying to tell you that it's autofill feature is actually AI.
You're a fucking tool if you use Opera.
That's mean.
I also use Vivaldi, there a problem with that too?
Only insofar as I love to give Norwegians shit for no reason other than it's funny.
forget your meds?
Every time I see the robot rebellion trope I wonder why the designers gave the basic model the strength of five chimps. I'm not saying it would solve all the problems, but your robot butler's hydraulics shouldn't be powerful enough to bench press a car.
You forgot the "asking for a friend" part.
Edited it in.
I don't know but ultimately, a product made to give the illusion of love couldn't possibly leave you, which means you'd be able to treat it in any way without contending with an other, which would make you lose interest since its lack of personhood would become obvious after the honeymoon phase. Even perfected it won't be able to replace a proper woman.
It would fulfill you as much as the realization of the teenage dream of having access to on-demand porn in your room would fulfill you.
It will be banned before it gets to the consumer.
The left will want it banned because it is deemed a sexist technology that will be deemed a threat to women and embolden misogynists. They consider all male forms of sexuality to be discriminatory and violence against women. They believe that the place for single men is to simp because they're not worthy to be in a relationship.
The right will want it banned because they consider all solo acts of sexuality and the tools needed for a single individual to achieve that - porn, prostitution and bots to be depraved and grossly immoral. They believe that the only place for sexuality is in the bedroom between two adults.
The centrists will stand on a mixture between the two.
Age verification will ban pornography (look what happened in any state that implemented it), everyone will adopt the Nordic model for prostitution (prosecute the buyer not the seller), ban bots and AI used for sexual acts and redefine in law the definition of consensual acts to require at least two consenting adults.
It's dystopian, society destroying nonsense...but I will say whoever does it and gets mainstream adoption first, and before any government regulation...will be a very rich person. It's basically legal prostitution, with a few extra steps. Whoever perfects and releases it first will make absolute bank before the government can even step in and demand their share.
Regulation for that will come fast, as soon as women notice they don't get as much attention.
My guess would be over the next 20 years they will start to roll out. I can see some opposition to them but there isn't anything illegal about it (I guess if some pedo wanted a childlike sex doll I can see that being illegal) but I say no later than 20 years.
Well. Local LLMs are definitely at the point where they could simulate a personality well enough to be satisfying. As long as you don't mind her not being particularly bright.
Give it a year or two and this technology will be mainstream enough you use in sexbots.
Elevenlabs is getting there for voice synthesis too.
So what I'm saying is the technology is all existent, it's just working it's way to the mainstream.
What are local LLMs and how does someone get one that works?
Local LLMs are Language models that run locally on your graphics card or cpu.
There are three parts to a running an LLM Model, Backend and Front End.
Model determines behavior. This is the part that could be censored or not, or will steer themselves away from certain topics. This is also where you have size and quantization. Size is the number of nodes, and Quantization determines the size of the node.
13B and 33B are the sweet spot for size and 4bit is the sweet spot for quantization right now. Smaller is faster dumber and easier to run. There is also context size but that's changing rapidly right now. Context size determines how long a passage of text it can process, and consequently how long it's memory is in conversation mode.
Backend determines how the model is run. The model either needs to be loaded onto your GPUs VRAM to run on your graphics card, or into your ram .
Oobabooga is a popular backend for running on GPU, and Llama.cpp and Kobold.cpp are backends that run on cpu.
Of course GPU runs much faster but it's far easier to expand your system Ram to the 64 or 128 GB you'll need for the big models than it is to get that much VRAM.
Koboldcpp and Llamacpp both have GPU offload modes that use both, which will speed you up a bit over running on cpu.
For front ends, both kobold and ooba have built in front ends, but there are dedicated front ends like silly tavern that make interacting with it more like a chat app.
So that was the short version. The technology all exists and is pretty good, but it's a pain to set up. I must emphasize that this is all private, uncensored and you are completely in control of it's behavior. Many people create models by taking existing models and fine tuning them by adding specific training data. This can be done very cheaply and quickly, unlike the original models which cost thousands of dollars to create.
This is why so much of the ecosystem is based around Llama, Facebook's model. It was the first model to be leaked in a format that allowed for open source models to be built off it.
In a few years someone will streamline this enough that it will be accessable to run for people who aren't enthusiasts. Right now the market is basically super normie censored offering like chatgpt, and super enthusiast models that require you to know a bit about Linux, tensorflow, and CUDA to get a grip on.
This is an excellent list of references even for those of us not trying to build a sexbot (or maybe we are). Thanks!
Hey I'm also a local LLM enthusiast and I must say that you've provided a very good overview.
I'd like to add that it really isn't too hard to start playing around with them nowadays; usability has improved quite a bit even over the last few months. I like to recommend koboldcpp because I feel like it's much more newbie friendly than ooba (plus I really enjoy its story mode).
Once you have kobold you only need a GGML model and you're good to go, but I guess picking the right model might still be a hurdle for many folks. Myself I have an 8GB card and I like TheBloke's finetunes, so his 4bit quantization of 13B Wizarrd-Vicuna-Uncensored (https://huggingface.co/TheBloke/Wizard-Vicuna-13B-Uncensored-GGML) works pretty well for me. Looking forward to his finetunes of LLama2 which are just now starting to drop!
As much as I would like a robot bang maid I don't trust robots to not rip my dick off
going to just say that if you have a good jailbreak for chat gpt it honestly does pretty dam well only problem is it has the memory of a goldfish right now cant even remeber what happened 5 paragraphs ago most of the time so untill that problem is solved it wont be going anywhere and even if it does get fixes the creators of ai models like these are super sjw types so there going to do there absolute best to censor the hell out of it
It really depends as I've seen robots in general that can look pretty much better a splinting image of a person but require hours of programming for basic movement while the ones capable of advanced movement look a lot more basic
With that foundation set out, for actual sex robots still looking at the decades range, augmented reality and vr easily looking at a few years but the trick would be sensual feedback than just visual.
Guess it depends on how much functionality we're talking about. The more you add to the list, the more time it'll be until everything's polished and even remotely affordable, and that's not accounting for social, cultural, political, and legal obstacles that are sure to spring up.
Furthermore, more functionality on the part of the actual AI/processing is not going to be easy to compound into a single interconnected system as it is. While massive strides over memory constraints have been made, it's still going to remain as one of the main technical bottlenecks.
More feasible for now would be something in the vein of AR/VR with a virtual avatar, and other options sort of tacked on and scripted together. But good luck adding behavior, personality, "long-term memory", AND full body locomotion in a real world environment all into the same system anytime soon.
Also just occurred to me that another problem is that the hardware involved in locomotion is still pretty obtrusive and bulky. So unless you think some monstrous big bertha styled sexbots are going to be marketable... there's a quite few steps left.
Honestly all they need to do is lie back and think of England.
If I'm going to fuck a robot, why bother having it look like the skinwalker version of a gym thot?
There's a book by Alfred Haus called Our Life on Mars. He keeps editing it and saying this is the final one. Anyway, one of the characters works at a holo suite where people can go in and have sex with whoever they want. It's actually robots, and a human in a nearby room. She points out one of the uses is to help men be better in bed.
I don't get it.
Any scientist capable of making something as good as you want it to be is probably hired to do better things with their talents
A little debatable when we're talking about engineers. Engineers sometimes have a habit of experimenting on whatever the fuck suits their fancy, so long as the tools and resources required are within their budget. And unlike some professions, they're not really hindered by a lot of legal red tape
I think you’re talking about inventors. It’s not like an engineer at Apple is being allowed to work on a state of the art sex robot and everyone is kosher with it
...No, I'm talking about engineers. Qualified engineers working on pet projects of varying degrees of complexity in their spare time. Sometimes freelance ones who happen to have plenty of extra time on their hands. They're not all that uncommon, electrical engineers probably being the sort I've seen the most.
So which ones are focusing on sex robots?
Sex robots specifically? There's a fair number of examples I could cite that at have at least been focused on related subjects, but not "sex robots" as a whole. Just not exactly something I feel like going into detail on here of all places honestly.
I'm a little embarrassed that I even know so much on these matters, even though sex robots are not exactly something I've ever had any interest in. Just found the technical ingenuity rather surprising.
Yeah I don't think anyone does. That's my whole point.
You're not going to find a whole lot of engineers who would be willing/able to create a mass market sex robot that's going to be anything more than a glorified blow up doll with a vibrating fleshlight and the annoying tiktok voice
Yeah, you could be right about that. But then things have been growing more acceptable in recent years, for better or for worse (a little of both maybe).
Like I remember when Internet controlled sex toys was a pipe dream largely held back by patent trolls. And now it's exploded into a fullblown market. Although admittedly, much of that can be owed to the camgirl industry.
You are right though, that the entire package product is going to be a much more massive undertaking. Not just to design and produce, but also to find a market path that actually lands.
If I was going to be totally realistic, I think the way this thing plays out is probably going to involve robotics developing as a general kind of product for a wider market, and sex bots will eventually branch out from there, once 90% of the groundwork's been already been laid out.
Okay
I don't know about that... I think the underestimate the money involved in this. If the tech was good enough, men would literally take out mortgages bigger than their houses for the Sexbots.
Yeah but the tech isn’t, and won’t be, good enough in our lifetime
