That’s some impressive shit right there. When Skullgirls came out the whole fucking point was “fighting game with (arguably) sexy retro cartoon styled girls with tons of wacky animation.” Then the creator got Me Too-ed in 2020 or so and ever since the team has been doggedly trying to undo every creative decision he made.
I think I heard positivity about this game once at launch.
Each and every time after that it was always something negative. Whether it was about the devs, the game itself, or the censorship that has happened in at least two waves now.
It's probably not even the same game anymore. With all the changes, you bought a very different game from release.
Many such cases. It should be illegal to retroactively remove content after a purchase. That is to say, publishers should be required to provide all previous versions of a game that were sold, as long as any of those were auto-updated to new versions. Reason #387 that software piracy is a moral imperative.
I'm still salty that Superhot VR removed the suicide-to-continue option.
Honestly, I don't see why there hasn't been a push to mandate the ability to choose which version/patch of a game you play on. Its been a major problem for decades.
Like, fine ban me from online when I do. But if I want to sit in single player duping shit and enjoying a build that only worked before the nerf, that's my fucking prerogative.
GOG at least is good about letting you get the previous installers for most games. Sometimes you have to go through their client application to downgrade, other times there are old versions linked on the website. Sometimes you can't downgrade at all, but support has reportedly sent old game installers to people on request.
Regardless of the issues with GOG and their parent company, I at least appreciate they let us show that there is a desire and market for these options.
I play a lot of Soulcalibur but I mostly play single player (with some mods to make the AI harder) and every time I try to watch a tournament it's always lefty politics from the commentators.
I just want to watch the matches and not have to listen to the retards narrating it
At least Soul Calibur seems to be the only big named fighting series to still understand the importance of single player.
Its basically the only one where you can get full price worth of time/entertainment with only PVE and never have to deal with another sweaty try hard or tranny avatar.
True enough, though their reduced budget does show a bit. Supposedly 6 sold well so 7 (if it ever releases) might have a better budget but I worry every time that they will listen to their vocal lefty communities and censor the fuck out of it.
A full budget single player Soulcalibur (like soulcalibur 3 had) would be a dream fighting game for me.
The CAS feature is their biggest draw and is far too heavy into fan service to ever censor. Especially after 2B managed to practically double their sales for 6 on sex appeal alone.
Which protects it a lot more than other fighting games from censorship, especially as it barely has a presence at the "serious" tournaments to begin with which is where most of the cries for covering come from.
I won't let my guard down, but I also abandoned the series before (with how bad 5 was and how they stabbed us all in the back for it) so its not like I won't do it again.
Because the only people capable of memorizing the detailed combo and frame data to play at any level above casual are the poor (aka only has one game to play, so plays it a lot) and the autistic (who obsessively play one game).
That's why the fighting games are trannies and blacks almost exclusively.
Also just want to let you know I'm requesting steam support to remove this game from my library. Yea yea you already have my money and you can laugh at me all you want but I just want you to know that you're a bunch of talentless hacks riding on the back of this franchise that you took from the original creators. We all know why you won't move on to make your own thing that suits your "sensibilities" instead of defacing Skullgirls.
"Go play porn games".. while all games remove "porn". Those types of people insinuate majority of games are porn games and ugly games are unique. Lolol.
It's big claim to fame was that it more or less bullied the rest of the industry into adopting rollback netcode by showing up all the AAA companies and demonstrating just how inferior their delay based netcode was.
It being forgotten is probably why this is happening. They are still trying to keep the same game they already got your money for 10 years ago alive.
So instead of releasing the next game in the series, like every other fighting game, they are trying to controversy bait market it back into people's conscious to get some players back.
In that case, and many others, it was tourney and arcade fags literally dropping infinite money in their lap. I don't blame them for riding the train, as it basically was impenetrable.
Its not like its changed, they simply stopped releasing entirely new versions and instead turned to MTX/DLC milking instead. The same way Monster Hunter stopped selling a whole G Rank game and instead did expansion packs once it was easier.
I'm not deep enough into fighting games to understand, but it seems like Capcom certainly did release SF3 and SF4, but the fans didn't really embrace them.
Sluggish controls. You had to time the next hit by the animation, and hitting the button wrong meant an attack wouldn't happen. For SF3 everything had extra animations, which meant things weren't flowing as easily. SF4 had a similar problem because it was in 3D.
SF3 was released on CPS3 and Naomi arcade boards. Add in the 1-3 impacts and you have enough differences to figure out how to play. Fighting games are zen like where you stop thinking and just respond. All the differences made it hard to let it flow. Since the movement doesn't feel the same as SF2, it's hard to move on to the next game.
Then we have outside games like King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Mortal Kombat, and Marvel fighters as well. It's easy to zen out to Marvel vs Street Fighter or the original Street Fighter 2 series. Power Stone is awesome.
Preface: I've never heard of this game and know nothing about it. I just thought a little re-interpretation of their major changes would be funny since they left it a bit open.
While the Renoir family and the Black Egrets were always intended to evoke imagery from an oppressive militant regime, we felt that the way that manifested (most notably via red armbands, flags, and symbolism) was too close for comfort - especially given the unfortunate reality that some of these hate groups are still active in various respects to this day. As such, you will notice that Egret soldiers no longer feature armbands and that the heraldry of the Black Egrets organization has also been adjusted. This is a holistic pass that applies to in-game frames, concept art, story mode art, and more.
"We felt that the evil faction Black Egrets were made to seem less evil by being associated with Nazi style imagery, so we removed that from their design."
While Skullgirls is no stranger to characters that confidently express their sexuality, there are instances in the game where characters are fetishized and/or have sexualization imposed upon them. This includes a few depictions of unwanted predatory behavior, particularly towards younger characters.
"We decided to not promote pedophilia by sexualizing child characters."
This whole thread is pretty much what I expected concerning Nugirls.
People mutiny against the lead developers with the creative vision behind the project and, rather than being content to push new content for the mobile game if that's what they really want to do, decide to also take what was already long since done and finalized as of 2nd Encore and start making more updates to it.
It's the most bizarre thing I've seen happen in indie gaming yet.

They got customer money and are holding the game customers bought hostage in offering to the gay mafia.
No refunds.
Yea they can go get fucked over all this. It'll become something just ignored going forward with other choices for fighting games.
They had a chance to become a niche fighter and pretty much lost that momentum since the stabbed the creator in the back.

Because it costs the developers/publishers money? Duh.
Makes sense, fighting games are troon/furry bait now for some reason.

Consequence of the autism requirement for high level play.
They will tell you with a straight face that it doesn't matter, but will immediately lose their fucking minds if a pride flag is removed.
At least the steam replies are savage as fuck.
"Go play porn games".. while all games remove "porn". Those types of people insinuate majority of games are porn games and ugly games are unique. Lolol.
It was an ok game when it first released, but nothing to the bigger names. Now it's forgotten, and the devs don't understand why.
It's big claim to fame was that it more or less bullied the rest of the industry into adopting rollback netcode by showing up all the AAA companies and demonstrating just how inferior their delay based netcode was.
I didn't know that. That does explain a bit.

Fighting games are weird. Capcom couldn't count to 3 or 4 for a very long time.
In that case, and many others, it was tourney and arcade fags literally dropping infinite money in their lap. I don't blame them for riding the train, as it basically was impenetrable.

I'm not deep enough into fighting games to understand, but it seems like Capcom certainly did release SF3 and SF4, but the fans didn't really embrace them.
Were there technical reasons why they were NG?

It ended up going the way of Darkstalkers.

The Black Egrets weren't even evil, it was just a stylistic choice.
One post someone made in response:
"Censorship is never acceptable.
You are subhuman trash with no right to continue living.
Anyone defending the censorship is equally as subhuman as the developers.
Liberalism is a mental illness. (So is transgenderism, by the way)
I will never, ever support any game your studio ever makes, ever again.
And I will also boycott any work in which any of your developers has worked on.
Skullgirls is about to have it's Bud Light moment."
The only change I can understand is the red cross. Those assholes are historically litigious as fuck.
