The Punisher is a simple man with a simple mission. He just wants to bring justice upon the worst scum in society and prevent innocent people from endlessly suffering the emotional turmoil that he was forced to experience in his own life.
He has no special powers.
He is just a man who has lost everything near and dear to him and wants to make a difference.
What a simple but incredible character.
He's not a meta-human.
He's just more pissed off than Batman.
Hell, Frank Castle is even more angry than the Hulk.
I wouldn't blame him for it either.
The Punisher is a character you can respect but never a character you would want to be.
He truly has one of the worst backstories.
Whole new meaning to: "That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry."
There was a moment when Captain America and The Punisher met, and it was kind of a collision of the Greatest Generation & Gen X truth regimes.
Frank Castle was a veteran of Vietnam. Had grown up reading stories about Captain America, and decided to enlist and fight for his country. In doing so, he was turned into a weapon by a government far more cynical and malicious than the one he'd grown up understanding. He was betrayed and abandoned by the institutions he trusted, and eventually the only institution he had left was his family; whom criminals murdered. The government itself seemed to have no qualms in working with these killers, let alone letting them run wild. So Punisher exists to bring them hell to pay.
Captain America sees Punisher as a raving lunatic, a terrorist, and a serial killer. Steve Rogers is a highly upstanding moral figure who, even when betrayed by these institutions, holds to the highest moral code. He, himself, was a weapon made by the same cynical government, but never let himself get dragged to the depths of cynicism and depravity that Frank Castle did. As a result, Steve Rogers despises Frank Castle. And Frank Castle thinks of Steve Rogers as the hero that he wished he could have been, but is now yet another loss and betrayal. Except, in his own way, Castle is still a highly moral figure, and wouldn't dare attack or betray Rogers. They have very different lines they refuse to cross, but those lines are there.
Captain America sounds like retard that'll support any sort of subversive degeneracy as long as the government supports it in name of American freedom
Modern Red Skull is kinda funny because he makes too much sense. I loved those excerpts.
He was literally the first "punch nazis" guy
That's actually the opposite of his character.
When was he against homos, trans, mass immigration, etc
Do other government policies exist?
Just wanted to say that that was extremely well written. Excellently put.
They had a good interaction in Civil War after Castle gunned down two villains who were trying to join the Resistance under Cap. Keep in mind Castle does this in full view of the entire room of heroes.
Cap then beats the shit out of him.
To be honest, Frank Castle was more hardline on his morals than Captain America. Two villains offered their services in order to protect their evil deeds and criminal actions. Steve never got a chance to accept their offer, because Frank wasn't going to tolerate an alliance with evil... ever.
That was the massive difference between the Punisher and Microchip.
The Punisher is a moral absolutist who doesn't believe reform is possible. Frank catalogs bad guys, makes a list, and then puts them in body bags.
Microchip is all about compromise. That is why he is working with an serial murder like Frank. Microchip armed and equipped Frank, gave him access to broad reaching intelligence sources and ... sometimes suggests targets for the Punisher; who sometimes might agree to kill them.
If Microchip wasn't working with the Punisher he would be working with CIA black bag operations or Mossad. He might even have found a gang to wipe out all of the others. Microchip knows that there is no such thing as an omelet without breaking eggs.
The were very different characters, and I really enjoyed the contrast.
Besides, sometimes Microchip was shown to be a cold blooded bastard too.
He'd have to be pretty cold bloded to be the guy making the list.
Frank is like a broken man who's taken up the mantel of the Angel Of Death. I feel like a person like that would understand that the people on his list, are already beyond saving. That's not for most humans in a Christian value system to understand, but God will not hesitate to smite you. Thing is, Punisher is not effectively an extension of God's wrath. What makes him evil is that he's an extension of man's wrath. I think that's what would make him different from someone like The Shadow.
I loved how he tried to be Captain America for a while after Cap died, and eventually couldn't do it.
I mean, of course he couldn't. Captain's too self-restrained.
And in a round about way inspired the Thomas Wayne Sr. Flashpoint Batman which is best described as "Batman with guns. Lots of guns".
that's honestly a really sad way for the punisher to be spending his time.
also I've watched plenty of "to catch a predator" shit & the predators are never fit, young, good looking white males.
They are, but those aren't the ones on Dateline. Those are the ones in Hollywood and Corporations.
I don't know about "white".
Unless they are a fag.
Or they are feds, which also mean fags.
What issue was this? I miss me some good Punisher.
I can't remember which issue was it but it was during the Punisher Max era (although what I'm referencing wasn't from the Max imprint I don't believe)
Punisher goes to a drug lab and just shot the shit out of everyone, the gangbangers shot back but they were kinda out classed. So they dropped their guns and put their hands up and the Punisher called it target practice and shot them all in the head anyways (off frame kill which is why I don't think it was from Max.)
They hands up don't shoot and the Punisher didn't give a single fuck.
You got a date for this as I want to know who I have to credit first for this:
Chris Handson or The Punisher.
Eh just another round of teenage sex hysteria.
He was trying to sleep with a child he met at the park!
Disgusting!
But why weren't her parents nearby?
Well she went there on her own.
That sounds a little older than child. Was it like across the street from her house?
No, she travelled across town on her own to get there.
She had to take the subway and a bus to get there? Wait how old is she? That's not important, she's just a CHILD!
Something seems off here.
Well she couldn't take her car because it broke down, then was repossesed by her auto loan company.
Wait a f**king minute.
And they wouldn't give her a new loan because she still had a mortgage on her house.
Hold the f'k up how old is she!
