Whether it's for cultural or biological reasons I don't know, but the result is that everything is done in extremes. The sense of entitlement of Indian women knows no bounds, and the simping of Indian men is legendary both there and in the West.
India has an aggressive Feminist movement, but it also has a pretty strong, genuinely, misogynist streak at the same time, depending on the people and location.
Not even in Spain is it legal to force a fourteen-year-old boy to marry a girl, or I some cases a woman in her 20s, who accuses him of raping her or even just sleeping with her, often falsely and with no evidence. But it happens all the time in India.
India is a mess in general. It has some upsides and some downsides.
Their culture doesn't pull punches about being fat, being a single parent, etc, so that's a plus. But yeah, you also get incomprehensible outcomes like this, because they're still a classist, monogamous, legal-paternalistic society.
On balance, I wouldn't choose to live there, but I'm sure there are millions of Hindu who wouldn't choose to live here either.
And Punjab... well, they're basically Klingons. What sort of Sikh gets killed by his wife? One who didn't listen to the gurus, that's who.
IMO India is lucky to get rid of some people. First off, there are enough already. Second of all, people wanna migrate from poor countries to rich ones. India is quickly becoming a rich country. At some point, with the US and Europe getting worse and India getting better, it's not going to look so good to emigrate.
And actually Indian people really only benefit from this. As far as I know, they can return to India if they decide it's better. That's an option I don't have. There is no guarantee that any country would take me.

Politicians that can commit crime on video and still get elected? Check.

Entertainers that gaslight yet treated as paragons of wisdom and worship? Check.
The list goes on, but you should get my point. If you think that it can't happen here, I'd strongly advise opening your eyes and smelling the eco-friendly arson fires.
