D&D was already "inclusive" to everyone. Literally the only barrier to entry was actually having an interest in playing the game.
The way they talk you would think there was some force field keeping them from playing
The way they talk, you'd think they actually play DnD instead of just trying to ruin yet another nerd hobby.
Exactly
Those are probably among the ones they deem 'suck to play with'.
D&D is always about the DM anyway. In my games, I just have groups of jogging orcs always rape the female characters until they get mad and leave. Also, LGBTQ+ players are killed on site by the NPCs.
Just let him get killed over and over again then just start beaking him about how he's proved his point that women can't fight already and maybe he should roll a man.
What about crippled characters? Do you allow the combat wheelchair?
Absolutely. Of course, in my setting, many of the areas are very prone to flooding, and thus all buildings are elevated about 3 feet off the ground and have stairs you have to climb to enter them (ramps are not a viable option due to limited space availability, sorry).
Since other people are also chiming in, in my game it works like this: crippled characters and NPC are a rarity because restoration magic can heal all but the worst aliments. The only exceptions are those who are worshippers of Illmater (as the god of sacrifice and martyrdom, it is thematically appropriate they refuse to heal crippling wounds), or those who do it for an important reason.
For an instance of the later, I am running a campaign set in a "sky pirate" sort of style, and the main Pirate city has an Orc as its mayor who has a prosthetic right arm. Or so it seems, because he actually has a symbiotic relationship with a Mimic (the Mimic helps protect him, he makes sure it is fed gold on the regular), and the "prosthetic" is the Mimic.
No. I presume no one in my games gives a shit about cripples so unless you fabricate your own magic wheel chair then you aren't getting one.
someone so crippled that literal god miracle magic can't cure them has no business being on an adventure
That brings up an interesting point. You can make your character however you want yet they keep whining about it not being inclusive
It's because they're trying to force their politics on everyone else. That is all.
on sight.
"killed upon being seen" makes sense
"killed in their present location as opposed to being taken somewhere else [off site]" is stupid
I despise the “we want to make it more inclusive or we need more representation” argument because “nerd hobbies” in my experience tended to appeal to white and Asian guys mostly. Nothing wrong with that. Contrary to the hacks that get put in charge of these IPs, nobody was stopping women or minorities from playing D&D, gaming, comics, etc. I even joke to this day that if I met a woman who was obsessed with Skyrim I’d propose on the spot.
At my local comic book store has a lot of table top gaming and people are there playing a lot. I’ve sat down and asked about the game and they were more than happy to explain it and invited me to play on a number of occasions. Just like if someone asks me about Superman I’ll go in depth with comic recommendations. Same with sci-fi
Inclusion is a bold faced lie with a word that has positive connotations to give warm fuzzy feelings while they slide the Social Justice knife into your back. You can't spend more time, energy, resources on one group without spending less on another or diluting your brand. The correct solution would be to create new products in the market segments they want to "include". Like how there's a type of manga for everyone. They don't try to make boys comics inclusive of girls. They make girls comics.
The real goal is taking away the things that you love. Blocking your escape from their cult, and destroying your culture. It's 1984 Newspeak. "Exclusion is Inclusion."
That’s why my eye twitches whenever I hear that word
Do they actually like tip-toeing around eachother's sensibilities? What does that session even look like? Roll 20 for Detron to fuck soyjack's wife! +5 inclusivity bonus! :OOO
I'm not sure they enjoy the tip-toeing so much, but I'm pretty confident they're all about the opportunity to conduct a witchhunt with a clean conscience.
I dont understand it either. At least in my games, everyone knows that there is racism involved, but when they get called a knife-eared bastard by a Dwarf, they say the Dwarf is a smelly alcoholic with a matty beard. And it all goes from there.
Yeah, and somehow it works doesn't it? At the end of the adventure they either fuck off to their own culture or kinda travel together because the dynamic is good enough for a quest - but it is always for the specific needs of a monoculture (which is in itself usually quite beautiful); fixing one thing at a time, maybe for loot, but also to bring out the best in that community/culture WITHOUT WORKING AT ITS EXPENSE. Also it's fucking fun not always liking eachother and I think Europeans have always been about this kind of banter. It highlights the differences and that tends to lead to a certain mutual appreciation when and where it actually matters. The opposite is a recipe for disaster, saying "sorry~~ I WAS TOO CULTURALLY INSENSITIVE~~" instead of "Oy fuck off knife ears!" leads to something absolutely insufferable.
I can't believe I even have to say it. If I can't call you a gold grubbing, block-headed, mountain-dwelling shortstack I don't want to be in the same campaign.
Either that, or it is stuff that works like in real life. So for instance, I am running a sort of "sky pirate" campaign (map inspired by Caribbean during Golden Age of Piracy, except its all air ships), and so they have a very motley crew of people. Because it is a pirate ship, so they have to get along or they will be gunned out of the sky. So any racial tension is mostly just for shit talking, not actual beliefs.
Shit's gotta get done and no one forced them but necessity. Actual chemistry guides that ship or else they'd be dead. They don't have to like eachother but atleast there are no secrets or illusions in this regard - when men live and work together such a thing is imperative.
The dungeon
masterguide carries several volumes of pages detailing pronouns of every character ever mentioned in each group's game. They say sorry a lot.
fake geeks don't deserve to be included
The left can't meme.
