“Resign-to-run” should be the law of the land. Why should taxpayers foot the bill for DeSantis’, or anyone else’s, campaign? Who’ll be doing the job he was elected to do while he runs for President?
Why is the draft a law, or the income tax? Why was FDR allowed to seize privately-owned specie, or Nixon to untie currency from money? Why is the NSA allowed to trade intel on Brits for intel on Americans if their charter and our rights prevent collection of the same? Why is it illegal to consume mushrooms that grow on your own property?
What is legal is not always right (in fact, I would argue it rarely is) and what is illegal is not always wrong. The "popular" opinion has no moral validity to anyone other than those so weak they treat perceived consensus as a survival mechanism.
Yeah, the furthest back I can remember specifically complaining about using one office as a platform to campaign for another with an overlapping turn was Obama's '07-'08 presidential campaign, abdicating his position to represent Illinois in the Senate.
You can see some Trump cultists getting livid over even having a primary.
Steve Bannon actually said that the 2024 primary debates and 2024 primary itself be cancelled and that Trump should automatically be the nominee.
These talking points then went out and you have Trump 2024 influencer scum Alex Bruesewitz, Laura Loomer and Paul Ingrassia repeating it.
Failed AZ governor candidate Kari Lake and failed NH rep candidate Karoline Leavitt were openly demanding that the primary be called for Trump without anyone even voting yet.
These same people keep boasting that Trump will crush DeSantis while at the same time demanding DeSantis not even run and that Trump should be automatically handed the nomination for 2024.
Really makes you think what are they scared about?
There were reports that Trump was going to go personally lobby against this, but he chickened out.
And if that is indeed true, it backs up my theories that he wouldnt run third party if he loses the primaries. His image is all about "I am a winner", so why would he causes the ultimate lose when he can just take a minor lose and then spin it some way?
No, I don't think Trump is going to run third party. When he refused to say that he'd endorse before, he was just being himself and trolling the media. Trump wants to win. He doesn't want to be a spoiler.
This is a dumb move. Don't divide the Republicans even more. Don't demoralize them. He hadn't declared a run for Presidency until now, which was perfectly fine, but now he's doing moves towards that direction?
He should have thrown his full support behind Trump, because God knows that man has too many incompetent politicians and saboteurs claiming outwardly to support him, so much so that he has trouble fixing anything long term once elected. DeSantis should have been willing to give him advice, so that the Right could have a more united and effective front, better able to reach voters like the country's best governor has managed. And if he still wanted to run in 2028, then he could have done so at that time, with Trump's full blessings and the entire Right's good wills behind him.
I agree with the sentiment, but that ship has long since sailed. Trump has been determined to divide and demoralize the GoP for months, and will continue hammering on DeSantis in increasingly absurd ways (someone who refuses to admit Warp Speed was a mistake saying Florida had one of the worst covid responses in the country is basically parroting DNC lines) up until the federal filing deadline (and maybe after that) even if DeSantis does not run.
One of the worst things I have seen is watching some on the right brainlessly parrot the Anti-DeSantis slander spewed by lying Trump 2024 influencers Alex Bruesewitz and Laura Loomer.
Sad to see so many people on the right just are as gullible and are as easy to fool as the left.
So not only is this a non-issue, Florida is actually the odd one out in requiring it in the first place.
But I'm sure histrionic leftists are still going to act like this is literally Hitler enacting literal fascism.
“Resign-to-run” should be the law of the land. Why should taxpayers foot the bill for DeSantis’, or anyone else’s, campaign? Who’ll be doing the job he was elected to do while he runs for President?
Campaigning for re-election is a necessary evil unless we institute one-and-done laws. Campaigning for a different job isn’t.
So why isn't this a law in most other states, if your opinion is the common one?
What's right and wrong is not a popularity contest.
Okay, then try to make it illegal.
Otherwise get mad, and then get over it.

Okay, so you too have bitched about this stuff before, right? You're not just mad because it's against orange man?
Yeah, the furthest back I can remember specifically complaining about using one office as a platform to campaign for another with an overlapping turn was Obama's '07-'08 presidential campaign, abdicating his position to represent Illinois in the Senate.
Because shitbag politicians pass laws that benefit themselves.
Okay, so clearly you've complained about this law before right? You're not just bitching because you're a trump cultist?
What does Trump have to do with it? Maybe you’re just bitching because you’re a never-Trumper.
Yeah, I only voted for him twice. You caught me.
I'm just not a retarded cultist. He lost us seats in 22 because he supported awful candidates.
It's mostly Trumpers being faux-mad about this.
There were reports that Trump was going to go personally lobby against this, but he chickened out.
The trump cultists are actually mad about it. There's no faking that.

Eh if it's the law, the law can be changed. It's not sacred.
When does he resign as governor of israel?
Bootlicker is usually a permanent position.
Trump the King of Israel will have to demote him.
This is a dumb move. Don't divide the Republicans even more. Don't demoralize them. He hadn't declared a run for Presidency until now, which was perfectly fine, but now he's doing moves towards that direction?

I don't agree with his decision to run this time.
it's annoying isn't it. So many conservatives have gone full tds in the vain hope ron runs. not realizing how much of a honeypot a ron 2024 would be.

Trump is coming at desantis from the left. It sure should make everyone think, but we have NPCs on the right too.

Traitor to President Trump, who got his worthless ass elected.
But Imp, Trump is Queen Ivanka's puppet in a more feminine way.
100% correct. Let him stay in Israel.
And you wonder why I call people like you cultists?
You are echoing that psychopath Laura Loomer.
Vote for who you want in the primary and back the nominee in the general.
If you can't do that then you are not a patriot who cares about saving the nation from 4 more years of Democrat governance.
He didn't say he'd only vote for Trump, he just said he wouldn't vote DeSantis. But a cultist like yourself would never understand that distinction.
He said, "DeSantis will never get my vote, I'll vote Democrat before I vote for him"
This is why I called him a cultist. His hatred for DeSantis stems from DeSantis daring to challenge Trump
In this thread this guy states he previously wanted Trump-DeSantis as a ticket and was also open to DeSantis 2028.
Now he will vote for a Democrat over him.
This is what Trump cultism does to a motherfucker.
I will say it again vote for who you want in the primary but back the GOP nominee in the general.
Anyone demanding Trump 2024 or bust is a cultist and not a patriot.
