Cute but whistle warning

Love my little teapot. It's cute, has a great color, and whistled out of the package upon first boil. The whistle was sweet and loud enough to hear in another room. The whistle after I think it's been maybe 3 months is now barely whistling. Not sure what is up with Kenmore. They really should fix their whistles. I mean the thing has two jobs, boil water and whistle. It's an age old task that should be more than perfected in 2022. I want mine fixed by Kenmore, but it's past the date of return now (only 3 months in, which is utter BS since it's a manufacturing issue.)

(Note: The one I ordered for my friend didn't whistle. The one replacing the one I got for my friend barely whistled out of the box too so we returned it again.) Kenmore, Do. Your. JOB. It's a shame because it's otherwise a great teapot.

Whistle goddamit! Kenmore do you even know what year of civilization this is??

Plot twist: she never took it off the burner, it just whistled until there was no water left and she got mad.

I'd call this a troll review, but have you HEARD how mothers let their kids SCREAM THEIR HEADS OFF in grocery stores?

The only way I can think of for a whistling kettle to not whistle is for there to be some gunk or other obstruction in the little hole ... or maybe they machined the hole in the second one a bit too large? But hers would have to be some kind of blockage. Or damage.

I wonder how this ... human ... thinks whistling kettles work?

Laughs in country with electric kettles and voltage that works for them…

Interestingly, in part, I suppose, due to the US history with tea, this uhh, we just don’t really have these sorts of kettles in my part of the world…

I’ve seen them, but very rarely…

Electric kettles are 👌🏻

They don’t really uhh, whistle, per se, though…

We have electric kettles too, but these are more common. Unfortunately like you said electric kettles don't usually whistle. Sure it's not essential but it's nice to know when it's done.

Then on the other extreme you have "smart wifi kettles" which are a completely unnecessary monstrosity of modernity.

"Smart wifi kettles."

Remember when Juicero put DRM on a juicer and we all laughed?

This was the AvE video that got me to start watching him.

Honestly, the “rumble rumble rumble, click!” of pretty much every kettle I have owned is more than enough…

Even the cheap shit ones, like say in hotel rooms (completely ubiquitous here, no matter how cheap the accommodation is), make enough rumbling noise to work out when they are done…

And if you don’t hear that, it doesn’t matter, because the thing is pretty much foolproof…

It’s just weird to me, that this exists as such a substantial cultural difference, but it does…

Also in general less tea consumption, but yes…

Canada has the same grid, and yet has mostly-ubiquitous electric kettle use…

So…

It’s more than just that. But that is part of it, I agree, yes…

Yep. Takes about 3 mins to boil water in a Canadian electric kettle. I've seen both styles here, but electric is a lot more common. Stove top kettles are associated with elderly folks.

One day, I will build a house, and the kitchen is getting dedicated 20 amp circuits. Plural.

But could you find a kettle that drew more watts?

Probably. There are places that have 120 volt high amperage electric service. That or have a 240 volt kettle on a phase splitter.

The water boils in less than a minute on 230-240v. Getting a cup and the tea you want takes more than enough time for it to boil

I've seen lots of electric kettles. The voltage may be a real thing, but they work.

After I realized I was burning my white and green teas with boiling water, I can’t go back to kettles without digital temperature controls
