I'm working on a skit of sorts that mocks all the DIE nonsense that has exploded into the mainstream these past few years, and it just hit me that laziness will eventually be classified as a disease similar to what happened with addiction.
So when you ask why your lazy brother who sleeps until 4pm each day and doesn't work should have the same things that a 90hr per week truck driver has, they'll claim the "The Science" is clear. Your brother is a lazy piece of shit through no fault of his own. He was born with a disease and there's nothing he can do about it!
I know this isn't terribly interesting, and this is already sort of happening with disability cons, but does anyone have any other predictions for the crazy things we'll see from field of psychiatry in the coming years?
Already is.... any number of fake diseases whose only purpose is to make you a bad person if you hold the "victim" to any kind of standards.
Depression, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, addictions, anxiety, obesity, most of "autism spectrum".
Fibromyalgia is a big one. It's what's known as a "trashcan diagnosis", basically what you pick because no real diseases or conditions match and you don't want Karen to yell at you by telling her it's psychosomatic.
It is really easy to tell. Just look at what fat people, usually women, use as an excuse and it is most likely fake
Long COVID.
Short COVID.
Remember "amotivational syndrome"? This was allegedly one of the effects of pot.
Anyone who doesn't love Dear Leader will be declared
mentally illbrainwashed and sent toreeducationdeprogramming camp. They are trying to already. No matter what they say, though, it won't be. Addiction is not a disease, soccer is not a sport, and trannies are just fetishists.
laziness will be declared counterrevolutionary
Only after the revolution succeeds and the "right people" are in charge.
Until then it will be encouraged as yet anothet corrosive that is useful for dissolving the current society.
Eh, after the revolution, they're desperately going to need people in the coal mines and slave pits. I fully expect the "work will set you free" ethos to be adopted once the commie utopia hits.
That's the more likely outcome.
Socialists and communists need workers to prop up their failing systems. That's why various countries in the EU are raising retirement ages. Classifying laziness as a disease would allow people to get out of work. They cannot afford to let that happen.
You cannot parody leftism in any way, anything you come up with is either already true or will be true soon due to you speaking it into reality.
I think overworking will be an illness and people will demand special compensation to force them to relax.
All that said, I get sort of tired of some of the uses of lazy. I had a lot of people tell me I was lazy because I didn't pick up this job, or work so hard I couldn't think straight. Almost every person who told me that has lost their job and had their position lost to tech progress. I've discovered that lazy is often being said because the person doesn't know or want to face the difficulties of the area. I was lazy because I couldn't work two jobs at the same time. I was lazy for not taking a job that paid less and had less upward momentum.
Are there lazy people? Sure. But I get pretty tired of it's misuse.
People are so afraid of conflict they lose the ability to say no. This in turn creates this warped perception of reality in which people who can say no appear lazy, or like they are creating problems. When often, the problem started from higher up and your boss/corporation is using peer pressure and that fear of conflict to increase your workload without increasing your pay.
We are already seeing that overwork classification brewing, as most "antiwork" people and even most communists are people so terrified of having to stand up for themselves and set boundaries that they simply implode into begging daddy government to do it for them.
I’d say the lazy thing is already hear. I would’ve never suspected fat acceptance would be a thing. I’m thinking maybe trans species could come about
