What is it with this nonsense? John Cena said he was told not to read Peacemaker comic books and she is told not to play the game? Why bother adapting anything? Granted I barely played the first Last of Us and after seeing the critics gushing over the second one I had no further interest
I think they secretly hate how they have to 'slum' and make comic book / video game movies to be successful.
Social media showed us how little actors think of the general public it is probably 100x worse with directors.
I never thought of that but it makes sense.
Because they don't want them to ask question/make trouble about going off canon. And if someone asks them "Is it accurate" in a press interview you don't want them to list differences between canon and the current thing.
Still I hate that they adapt stuff and don’t even bother to learn about it
Marvel actively hires writers who aren't fans of the canon so they can push The Message without worrying about details that actual fans would call out.
And I’ve been called a book or comic book purist because I have no interest in the bastardizations. I get you can’t do it exactly but these people show zero respect for source material
My guess is they don't want her to know the story/lore and go wtf when the series goes off script like Cavill did.
With the second game going the way it did maybe it would be better to go off script once they get there.
Congrats! They went off script and now Ellie is trans-male and Joel is trans.... alive!
The fact that HBO didn't cast Ellen Page as Ellie proves that they are all ageist, homophobic, misogynist, and transphobic! They are discriminating against her by saying she can't be allowed to play as a lesbian just because she's a straight man now, and furthermore, they're erasing her identity by refusing to acknowledge her lived experience for the time she identified as a lesbian, which as we all know, is all it takes to qualify as anything!
Wasn't this the girl who played the young Lady Mormont in GoT? If so, she was fantastic in that role. One of the few treats in that shit show.
Yes, it's the bear cub who arm wrestled an undead giant.
One of the few reasons I want to see a sequel series. Her being a hardass and Grand Maester Sam working with Tyrion on chronicles of the war remarking on the number of houses wiped from existence.
Ellen Page started her acting career in Nova Scotia in early seasons of Trailer Park Boys.
That's probably about the age of Ellie in TLoU Part 1.
She did spend her time on TPB running around in plaid shirts and jeans.
Must have pained her being on a good show.
Being overshadowed by the likes of them.
At first I was like "oh, she is probably a child, they were looking out for her", which still is weird if she will act in it... but she is 19.
I guess they don't want to risk another actor becoming an uppity troublemaker who cares about the story like Cavill.
The guy who was pegged to direct Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan had never seen Star Trek.
So what did he do?
He watched all 80 episodes of Star Trek.
It makes perfect sense as soon as you understand that this stuff is not produced for fans but with subversion as the explicit goal.
As far as the producers are concerned, what came before is to be pissed on.
It gets even dumber. While the human cordyceps in the game spreads by spores, the spores don't exist in the show.
Course they don't. You need more spooky horror zombie shit no actual contaminated areas where the late stage ones have gone to "bloom"
