I'll do the same thing as with all politicians, thumbs up if they are talking the right talk but hold my hand on the trap door lever if their actions fall through as soon as they reach office.
So far only guy that's come close was Trump and Desantis, both not perfect but way better than 90% of the trash out there.
Perfect is the enemy of good. Trump is legitimately not very bright (except for his business acumen, which is savant tier), but he also actually moved America's Overton window to the right for the first time in probably 40 years. If every politician was like him, America would be an infinitely better place.
Once we're no longer just trying to keep our heads above the endless torrent of shit, then we can start worrying about getting closer to perfection.
I'm gonna disagree here. He's clearly got a pretty good vision for long term cause and effect and strategies. Midwits just don't have that capacity.
Years in the making he realized he was in a bubble and made sure to go and poll the blue collar people he was going to target. There's forward planning and self reflection in that, far more than most politicians. Long term, like you say.
He just has a particular way of speaking, as well as one of his enemies being the self styled 'intellectuals', academia and 'party of science', who seek to cast everyone who disagrees with them as ignorant and evil.
Where he is socially dumb is that he's far too trusting. He can play his overt enemies like a fiddle but the covert ones gained his trust.
I think Trump is extremely clever, but not extraordinarily intelligent. But I think the main reason that he appears stupid to some people is because he lacks impulse control. Anyone who'd shout everything coming up in his mind would appear like an idiot.
When I say "not very bright" I mean relative to the average president. I don't think we've had a midwit president ever. Even Biden isn't a midwit, he's just got dementia. You need to be smart to be president, even if it's just a means to push a destructive agenda.
That's the way to do it, but she seems to be talking the talk so far, if she's elected we'll see how she does (also keeping in mind the limits of her power, which we recognize isn't unlimited, unlike the dems who think their leaders should have unlimited power with no checks).
Of course, it's why I put Trump and Desantis so high, despite their limits, people actively trying to sabotage them and resources available, they did quite well.
If every state focused on what they have than constantly demanding more from the federal government, America would not be in such a mess.
Lake is the best at handling the press. She's also running against a retard. Lake is barnstorming and drawing large crowds while her opponent dodges a debate, says some of the stupidest most incoherent babble, and campaigns like Dementia Joe, like a mole coming out of a hole once in a while.
If Lake loses, it will be well past time to discredit the "theory" part of "conspiracy theory" regarding D election tampering.
Having worked in the media for years, she understands that they're a bunch of sniveling, deceitful, partisan shitstains, and she treats them with the appropriate contempt.
It never ceases to amaze me how the average Republican still answers loaded questions from the media as though they are asked in good faith. The correct response is to treat them as the enemy, point out the game they are playing, and attack their hypocrisy, as they always fail to hold their party to the same standards.
DeSantis is great at this. From what I've seen of Lake, she's great at it, too. That clip of her answering the question about her "election denialism" with a stack of articles claiming the 2016 election was stolen frankly made me tumescent.
I think I have a fetish for seeing hack fraud journalists getting dominated.
But she has also changed. She was friends with a drag queen. This is not a knock against her, a lot of us have changed for the better in the past few years, as have I. I welcome converts, rather than disparaging them.
While Republicans are beyond useless, there was an article complaining about the fact that Republicans have stopped answering the media's call for comments, because they know the media sucks so much. And good for them.
Please do note that they have an at the ready answer whenever you call out their hypocrisy: WHATABOUTISM!
You're not allowed to call out their hypocrisy.
What do you think the secret of Donald Trump's success is?
Honestly, I don't know anything about her other than she was a newscaster for years, and the Democrats contributed to her primary election because they thought she'd be easier to beat in the general election (womp womp).
I neither support or oppose her, though I have to assume she can't do any worse than any candidate the Democrats are running.
I've seen a few of these "Republicans are refusing to give us quotes we can take out of context to fashion smears and this is a Danger to Our Democracy!!!" pieces, and it warms my heart.
Whataboutism isn't an argument to persuade the unpersuaded, it's a coping mechanism partisans use when they have their hypocrisy thrown in their face. They can yell "WHATABOUTISM" all they want, but when they are confronted with a literal stack of evidence of their hypocrisy, they might as well be yelling "FISHSTICKS!"
I've never been a huge Trump fan, but far and away my favorite thing about him was watching him disrespect the press.
She's much better, and in fact I'd say that she's one of the best Republicans running - right after Blake Masters and JD Vance.
They're not even acknowledging that Republicans refused comments anymore. You can tell that they refused by noticing that they rely on (spinning the) publicly available information for the Republican POV, like tweets.
That's an optimistic take. The thing is, it's not even the actual fallacy, but that has never been a barrier to Reddit-tier replies claiming 'fallacies'.
Same for me. I actually used to hate him for his birtherism, but he grew on me by attacking those pathological liars.
If Lake loses, it's a point against charisma and for "moderation wins". Because she's probably the most smooth Republican running right now.
Make no mistake: Kari Lake wants me dead and tortured.
The reason she criticizes WARMONGERS is reverse psychology. If WE believe that our enemy (the womens) is against wars, we'd conclude that they're doing it to harm us, so we'd support wars and go off to war. And she'd laugh while we bleed to death in wars started by women like Ukraine or Taiwan.
Unfortunately, the Arizona Democratic nominee is also a member of the Enemy Gender, so there is no choice at all for men in the state. No matter who wins, we're dead!
Is this a shot at Imp?
It's the whole damn mag.
And he still completely missed.
Are you denying that Kari Lake wants you dead and tortured?
I'm denying that I don't trust her just because she's a woman.
Her ties to Youngkin are enough.
I'm so disappointed in you. You're literally fine with the gender that wants to torture and kill you?!?!? Careful, someone is going to depose you from the position of Chief Woman-Hater.
I'm not even going to ask.
Had to check the username, it's breddy gud
Sometimes I forget to switch to that account.
I thought that the theory was that he is in love with trannys?
But the idea that Tony and Imp is the same person just arguing with himself would actually make a lot of sense.
That he's pro-tranny is not really a theory - he's always defending them.
The theory is that she is a trans-identified female.
It'll always be a mystery. He claims not to have bad girlfriends. Maybe just the product of internet echochambers, though my personal favorite is that he is a woman who "transitioned" to male, regretted it, and is trying to cope by persuading himself that women are pure evil and that he isn't one...
It's how they flirt.
Who else would Tony target?
Ok this one is pretty good. Most of the time your mockery of him is lame, but you actually had me for a moment.
🙄🙄🙄🙄
Liz Cheney is an idiot, a clown, a traitor, and a useful idiot for the Left.
She is a shining example of what TDS does to a putative Republican or "conservative". If you are willing to throw away your right wing principles and openly help the left because of "orange man bad", you were not a principled right winger to begin with, you were a grifter, and now your grift has been exposed.
It's one thing to hate Trump, but its another thing to give aid and comfort to the left. And that's exactly what much of the "never Trumpers" seem to do, like Cheney, David French, and the Lincoln Project people.
they're all just democrats claiming to wear right wing skinsuits. trump broke their minds.
DeSantis is not Trump, yet 100% of those "nevertrumpers" are not going to come back to the right for DeSantis or anyone else. They're all just liars blaming Trump's personality for their being opportunistic traitors.
I am still not sold on her, she's former media personality after all. This does make me smile.
There are (were) some honest people in the media. The fact that she left her cozy gig because she felt it was a violation of her ethics is an encouraging sign.
Also the fact that she constantly rips the media for the useless, partisan hacks that they are is extremely entertaining. And her actual policy positions are pretty decent.
Yawn, I already said my bit on this one.
She's tied to people who are behind some of the worst of the anti-Trump coup.
