Having worked in the media for years, she understands that they're a bunch of sniveling, deceitful, partisan shitstains, and she treats them with the appropriate contempt.
It never ceases to amaze me how the average Republican still answers loaded questions from the media as though they are asked in good faith. The correct response is to treat them as the enemy, point out the game they are playing, and attack their hypocrisy, as they always fail to hold their party to the same standards.
DeSantis is great at this. From what I've seen of Lake, she's great at it, too. That clip of her answering the question about her "election denialism" with a stack of articles claiming the 2016 election was stolen frankly made me tumescent.
I think I have a fetish for seeing hack fraud journalists getting dominated.
But she has also changed. She was friends with a drag queen. This is not a knock against her, a lot of us have changed for the better in the past few years, as have I. I welcome converts, rather than disparaging them.
While Republicans are beyond useless, there was an article complaining about the fact that Republicans have stopped answering the media's call for comments, because they know the media sucks so much. And good for them.
Please do note that they have an at the ready answer whenever you call out their hypocrisy: WHATABOUTISM!
You're not allowed to call out their hypocrisy.
What do you think the secret of Donald Trump's success is?
Honestly, I don't know anything about her other than she was a newscaster for years, and the Democrats contributed to her primary election because they thought she'd be easier to beat in the general election (womp womp).
I neither support or oppose her, though I have to assume she can't do any worse than any candidate the Democrats are running.
I've seen a few of these "Republicans are refusing to give us quotes we can take out of context to fashion smears and this is a Danger to Our Democracy!!!" pieces, and it warms my heart.
Whataboutism isn't an argument to persuade the unpersuaded, it's a coping mechanism partisans use when they have their hypocrisy thrown in their face. They can yell "WHATABOUTISM" all they want, but when they are confronted with a literal stack of evidence of their hypocrisy, they might as well be yelling "FISHSTICKS!"
I've never been a huge Trump fan, but far and away my favorite thing about him was watching him disrespect the press.
She's much better, and in fact I'd say that she's one of the best Republicans running - right after Blake Masters and JD Vance.
They're not even acknowledging that Republicans refused comments anymore. You can tell that they refused by noticing that they rely on (spinning the) publicly available information for the Republican POV, like tweets.
That's an optimistic take. The thing is, it's not even the actual fallacy, but that has never been a barrier to Reddit-tier replies claiming 'fallacies'.
Same for me. I actually used to hate him for his birtherism, but he grew on me by attacking those pathological liars.
