I'll do the same thing as with all politicians, thumbs up if they are talking the right talk but hold my hand on the trap door lever if their actions fall through as soon as they reach office.

So far only guy that's come close was Trump and Desantis, both not perfect but way better than 90% of the trash out there.

Perfect is the enemy of good. Trump is legitimately not very bright (except for his business acumen, which is savant tier), but he also actually moved America's Overton window to the right for the first time in probably 40 years. If every politician was like him, America would be an infinitely better place.

Once we're no longer just trying to keep our heads above the endless torrent of shit, then we can start worrying about getting closer to perfection.

Trump is legitimately not very bright

I'm gonna disagree here. He's clearly got a pretty good vision for long term cause and effect and strategies. Midwits just don't have that capacity.

Years in the making he realized he was in a bubble and made sure to go and poll the blue collar people he was going to target. There's forward planning and self reflection in that, far more than most politicians. Long term, like you say.

He just has a particular way of speaking, as well as one of his enemies being the self styled 'intellectuals', academia and 'party of science', who seek to cast everyone who disagrees with them as ignorant and evil.

Where he is socially dumb is that he's far too trusting. He can play his overt enemies like a fiddle but the covert ones gained his trust.

I think Trump is extremely clever, but not extraordinarily intelligent. But I think the main reason that he appears stupid to some people is because he lacks impulse control. Anyone who'd shout everything coming up in his mind would appear like an idiot.

When I say "not very bright" I mean relative to the average president. I don't think we've had a midwit president ever. Even Biden isn't a midwit, he's just got dementia. You need to be smart to be president, even if it's just a means to push a destructive agenda.

That's the way to do it, but she seems to be talking the talk so far, if she's elected we'll see how she does (also keeping in mind the limits of her power, which we recognize isn't unlimited, unlike the dems who think their leaders should have unlimited power with no checks).

Of course, it's why I put Trump and Desantis so high, despite their limits, people actively trying to sabotage them and resources available, they did quite well.

If every state focused on what they have than constantly demanding more from the federal government, America would not be in such a mess.
