The thing that fucked me up was how many people on reddit were saying they feel "society let Dahmer down". It's OUR fault, because he was abused and nobody loved him. And of course these people have this weird saviour complex, like they themselves would have totally changed him with just loooove.
And what makes it even worse is that that very attitude is what allows Dahmer and those like him to get as far as they do. If someone had actually put their foot down and said "Actually, this guy is certainly a threat, and may even just be evil", it would have saved lives.
I do think Harry's point about how they had to big-up Dahmer's racism [that didn't exist] because, according to the progressive stack, the raping, cannibalism, and murder are a lesser evil (to the Progressive-types) is also fascinating. Because like you pointed out, they will make all kinds of excuses for the other things he did, but racism is unforgivable to them.
It says so much about society.
Like nowadays even with fiction, it's so funny when it's like... horror or some other violent genre. You see limbs flying everywhere, shit like that, but suddenly it's like OH NO when someone is being a racist.
Certainly about the wokoids and their ilk in Hollywood. Because a lot of normies I know who watch those sort of movies also point out "Why is this movie treating the racism worse than the killing people?"
They managed to undermine their own message anyway. The black cop is accusing him of targeting black people because they are easy targets and Dahmer replies that he lived their because it's all he could afford and he picked targets that he thought were "beautiful". And what the viewer is shown backs up Dahmer's statement.
It's like that Norm Macdonald bit about Harvey Weinstein. "The worst part was the racism." No, the worst part was the murdering people, and the eating people, and the raping children, and the racism is way down the list.
I mean are you really shocked that redditors feel bad for a psychotic cannibal or would have ended up one of his victims because they're overly empathetic retards
Religion doesn't define morality. At best religion elucidates innate morality. There are common moral themes across almost all societies regardless of religion: Don't kill, don't steal, don't in-fight, etc. That's because those amoral behaviors are destructive to a cohesive society.
This isn't even the first time Dahmer has had media about him. Seems like every few years something about him pops up and opens old wounds for the people who had to live through it.
People just love a visceral horror story, I guess. And there's always going to be someone that wants to cash in on it. So we're going to keep seeing it.
Should he have gotten help? Yeah, he should have. But at the time, the world was a very different place, and getting help was not as easy, sought after, or sometimes even requested. It was still stigmatized. The people that needed the most help were sometimes shunned, or told it was fine. "You're not fucked up, you just have bad thoughts sometimes. Just ignore them, they'll go away."
Lots of things led to him doing what he did, and many times before it, he could have been stopped. But that never happened.

Fucking weirdos.

I just saw a funny clip with Norm talking about the guy and half the comments are referencing the Weinstein and OJ jokes. :D
Among other things he was also a pedophile.

the government tortured ted so if anyone's a victim of society there's one
I am an atheist but I do know that a society without a Religion loses inevitably its moral compass.

I don't think it is possible to establish a solid moral foundation without a religious framework.

Therapy would not have helped Dahmer. A straight jacket and padded room would have been the only solution
More like two to the back of the head.
Before his first capital crime I wouldn't have supported that. After the first one he should have been ole yellered
Sometimes that is the help.
Globohomo is ramping up to normalize pedophilia and Netflix is going to coming to bat for it first.
