Nintendo has been going woke for a while. Japanese gamers arent going to like this at all. They completely ditched Sony and Ps5 because of the censorship, i wonder what they will do with Nintendo now. ..

Allegedly PC is gaining some ground in Japan because consoles are turning to shit. We'll see I guess. They can have all the nudity they want there.

Problem is.. PC gaming is expensive as fuck now.

Not true.

A 1080 still runs everything because devs know nobody can afford a meaningful upgrade.

No, because there wasn't that much innovation to begin with. Ray tracing is the last graphical innovation I can think of and tbh it isn't world changing like other stuff in the past was.

No, because there wasn't that much innovation to begin with.

That's not how it works.

If you have a 3090 it can push more polygons and hold more than double texture data in memory that a 1080 can. No 'innovation' in rendering techniques is required. Simply having more resources means higher quality models and textures.

A 1080 still runs everything because nobody is going to make a game that requires 24gb of VRAM for its textures and models when two thirds of the market have only got 8.

There's still nothing that'll justify the prices of the new GPUs coming from nvidia, change my mind. If you got as 3000's series card there's no need to get any new ones. Friend of mine's still got his 1060 though, he plays stuff alright, even IF there's a game with high graphics: are they really worth it? I've come to think of PC gaming as just graphics recently when it comes to AAA, all mediocre shit that looks good. I mostly play indie nowadays, even they can look good and are at least innovative...yet don't require the latest GPUs.

I guess i should mention that i do a lot of modding with a shit ton of textures in many games. Hell, im getting an upgrade for skyrim because skyrim is struggling 4k-8k textures. Even my 10 followers have 4k skin textures and outfits. Also with boob physics. And i do a little bit of modeling in blender as well.

false. Texture streaming has been a thing for an eternity. What matters is mainly "can you hold enough in memory to cover streaming latency" (which usually means 'for one frame') - and framerate and resolution targets have plateaued for quite a while now. (Steam hardware survey: 66% of users are still 1080p. Unfortunately no framerate breakdown.)

I have a 1080. Starting to struggle for highest settings at 1080p 120hrz.

I used to buy that argument but when people routinely dump €1000 on a fucking phone it's hard to take that serious anymore. Seriously, the smallest last-gen iPhone STARTS at €800.

I maybe spent that much on PC gaming hardware in the last couple of decades COMBINED.

Ok is this going woke or did one game maker push things too far that it forced them to respond?

As the latter at least means we just have to let the heat die down, the former means we have bigger issues..

The path is pretty predictable for Nintendo.

When their popularity drops, they ease up on restrictions. See the pressure from Sega in the 90s to drop Nintendo's infamous super-censorship on not just adult topics, but swearing, religious symbols, even anime (for countries outside of Japan).

While Sony was eating their lunch, Big N continued to relax those restrictions culminating on being the only platform to allow Manhunt 2 (in it's final form, betas were much more violent, but that's a different discussion).

Then Wii came and things had to be friendly again. WiiU flopped and the floodgates started to open to 3rd parties to do whatever they want.

Now that Sony is swirling in the toilet bowl with their own censorship and regressive politics, Nintendo picked up the crown and now they're flexing again, now that they have power. Why? What's the point of power if you're not going to use it, and censoring art is something both the left and right happily agree on.

Not been into Nintendo so if that's true then it's less woke more the cycles of 'flexing when in power, easing when things aren't too great'

Which is annoying but fine, prefer that than affected by the brain rot

We all knew it was coming.. from nintendo saying they gonna improve male/female ratio of its employees (it was 91% male), to them recognization gay marriage in japan, to now this.. hmmm cant be coincidence.

Seems things have escalated in speed since tokyo olympics and death of Abe.

no they have been allowing games to be whatever they want as long as it wasnt their games. This is a new thing.

He's talking about way back when. They would clamp down hard on unlicensed games. It has been a good run for weird and interesting games since they scrapped the licensing system, especially on 3DS and Switch where small studios could get the developer toolkits.

RIP

They used to allow 3rd party games to do whatever they wanted it was only their own games they censored. Now they are censoring 3rd party games.

Hardly. The whole reason Nintendo originally cornered the market on home consoles was because they had “quality control” (censorship) in who they allowed to produce licensed games.

Which Nintendo console releases ever had nudity?

The same OP twitter account said they were able to release games like Elves Fantasy Hentai puzzle and other such games uncensored on the Nintendo Switch without any problem before. They themselves said this rule is new.

i think it shouldnt have censorship especially for 3rd party games. . And its all because of woke reasons, as the companies become more woke the more they censor.

Fair enough. Maybe I missed them loosening restrictions in the post-gamecube era
