You are seriously overstating the strength of evidence supporting your claim. What you have is (strong) circumstantial evidence that BoJo went to Ukraine to scuttle the peace talks. To say it slipped out would mean that someone on the other side confirmed this theory was true; they did not. And there is nothing except this author's assumption to prove that Symonds put him up to it.

What the west does is inconsequential.

Is this your personal substack? The source he refers to mentions Boris and Carrie exactly zero times…

Ukraine has had 0 interest in "peace" that didn't restore their pre-war borders, and Russia has had 0 interest in even pulling back to the 2022 borders let alone the 2014 ones.

So no, this did not happen.

“According to multiple former senior U.S. officials we spoke with, in April 2022, Russian and Ukrainian negotiators appeared to have tentatively agreed on the outlines of a negotiated interim settlement: Russia would withdraw to its position on February 23, when it controlled part of the Donbas region and all of Crimea, and in exchange, Ukraine would promise not to seek NATO membership and instead receive security guarantees from a number of countries.”

Except neither side was ever remotely willing to consider peace on those terms. Especially not by April. Ukraine might have agreed to that in the 1st few days when they were actually worried they might not be able to stabilize, but Russia wouldn't have. By April Ukraine was including Crimea in all peace talks, which caused Russia to walk.

All the peace talks were publicly reported and both sides were never close. It was all just theater.

I'd say that any testimony from "former senior US officials" should be met with skepticism, to speak with restraint.

After all, CNN is staffed with a variety of these ex-apparatchiks.

And a cease-fire or rapprochement is against the wishes of our military-industrial complex and the bureaucrats who want to maintain Russia's pariah status.

okay but Russia has been against peace, too. Let's not all pretend that the aggressor, Russia, was just disciplining an unruly child and then prepared to withdraw like the Chinese did in Vietnam.

Russia invaded 100% with the intent to conquer the country and install a pro-Russia puppet regime.

No comment until the smog of lies regarding the war dissipates.

Which may take a while.

Referring to 14,000 deaths in Donbas without indicating that these were predominantly pro-Russian deaths at the hands of Ukrainians

Russia's military casualties (6,500 dead) were indeed much greater than the Ukrainian side's (4,400). They got beaten, boohoo, so sad.

Maybe they shouldn't have started it by invading (https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2014/11/21/russias-igor-strelkov-i-am-responsible-for-war-in-eastern-ukraine-a41598), so they wouldn't get so trashed. (Applies to the current invasion too.)

The remaining 3,400 were civilians who killed by both sides caught between them. Among them 300 mostly Dutch foreigners killed by Russia in 1 day (and actually 1 minute), making 8% of all civilian victims.

Euphemizing the history of Neo-Nazi Stepan Bandera, claiming he simply “fought with the Germans against Soviet forces,” when in reality he was a key Hitler collaborator;

The dude doesn't even know what "Neo-Nazi" means, and after just few months Himmler put Bandera in the same concentration camp as he did with Stalin's son (Sachsenhausen). And Bandera's brothers were sent to Auschwitz (where they died), while his top aides were just unceremoniously shot after their arrest & interrogation by the Gestapo.

Stopped reading there because it's too stupid.

civilians caught between both sides

That’ll happen when Ukraine uses their civilians as human shields.

That's also happens when Russia "uses civilian as human shields" (while occupying a country, having invaded it while for almost a decade pretending they didn't). Firing Grads from around apartment buildings while people inside film it (the "Gaza" tactic: https://youtu.be/bmBkyn-GmTw https://youtu.be/wgbYQKIvVqM https://youtu.be/25_scHriTZQ https://youtu.be/zvIvdpYqW_Y), making fighting positions inside and on rooftops of the unevacuated buildings themselves, and so forth, since the beginning in 2014. The very first major clashes, such as the siege of the border guard HQ on the outskirts of Luhansk city from the adjoining apartment towers on June 2-4 (https://youtu.be/OLhu0TFLprA https://youtu.be/qPfe46dSeNk).

The 300 Dutch and Malaysian people in their plane certainly didn't "shield" anyone in the open sky. In just one moment, almost 1/10 of the entire civilian death toll of 8 years.

And then there were also just murders.
