It's a well-known fact that "consultants" are paid by showrunners just to rubber stamp their dogshit and simp for it.
If the consultant and expert conflicts with the showrunner's "creative vision" he's going to get fired. His job is to simp and shill for a paycheck. To sell out. Not to do honest work and say "here are all your errors that you need to fix to make this show more faithful". Nobody wants to hear that shit, let alone to pay for it.
Even Brian Sanderson, a juggernaut who couldn't be fired, when consulting for the Wheel of Time show, immediately saw that the show was not going to be faithful to the books AT ALL. So he rationalized this by saying, "well, this isn't wheel of time, this is Rafe Judkins' alternate reality interpretation of Wheel of Time, and if you look at it that way, you don't have to be mad at it."
Sanderson openly admitted that he had very little involvement in the show, even though he did try to give helpful notes. Thing is, Judkins simply didn't want to be told how to make the show.
But Sanderson was given top billing in the credits despite his insignificant involvement. Why? To deceive the fans into thinking Sanderson played a prominent role in the show to give it legitimacy and authenticity.
All the hollywood/streaming media is anymore, is grass fucker bad writers with good connections in the industry, stealing the IP of their far betters, fucking it in the ass and making it far worse so that they can take credit for the finished result (if they made a faithful adaptation, they would only be an adapter, not a writer, so they refuse to be faithful), and attempt to exploit the power of the underlying IP to gain fame selfishly while ass fucking the fans.
Nobody wants to hear that shit, let alone to pay for it.
Peter Jackson paid Tom Shippey as his lore consultant and listened to what he had to say. But then, Jackson's "creative vision" was to tell the story of the Lord of the Rings, instead of hijacking the well-earned prestige of Tolkein to bolster his own garbage.
Jack Carr seems pretty pleased with Amazon's adaptation of the Terminal List books, but that's probably because Chris Pratt got everyone into line. Also because Jack didn't sign the first option contract he got
Has Sanderson given his thoughts on Wheel of Time. Just reading the summaries I can see the showrunner doesn’t care and one of the first things Justin’s talked about was lgbt representation. That just tells me he had no intention of a faithful adaptation
In his videos reviewing the series itself, he is overly diplomatic and only gives praise.
In his podcast at random times when it comes up, he is more honest and basically says that he was shocked at how unfaithful it was when he first read the scripts, and was upset about it, and had to tell himself it wasn't meant to be the "real" wheel of time to accept it. He tried to give feedback early on when asked, but then he stopped being asked and basically wasn't involved anymore.
Sanderson is in a position to make untold millions when Hollywood eventually starts adapting his works. Based on the insane success of his recent crowdfunding campaign, tv and film versions are not far off. He’s not going to sabotage any of that by openly criticizing the machine.
He's had people beating his door down to adapt his work for years now. He's refusing because he's too busy to actually supervise and control the adaptation. He also wants to gain experience by adapting smaller works first, and isn't going to do Stormlight until he's ready, and when he does Stormlight, he will have total creative control.
That sucks. I thought he did a good job finishing the story. Since you don’t have Robert Jordan the smart move would’ve been to heavily involved him. It makes me sad normies like it and even book readers twist themselves in knots trying to justify the show. Shadiversity has some good videos going over how the ignores source material.
I was honestly hoping the show would flop due to them not caring about the books
I have no doubt that the show will flop. With streaming shows they don't release the ratings. 55 critic score and 4.4 user score. A lot of the high user ratings are clearly fake/shill accounts. It really is not popular or successful.
To save money the whole show moved to the Czech Republic to get subsidies from the Czech government.
That’s good to know. A faithful adaptation would be huge. Game of Thrones followed the source material at the beginning although I blame Martin for his laziness
I remember when they were making LOTRO, there were apparently a lot of rules. A lot of stuff couldn't be in the game. No greater magic (for the players). No HP. No death. No respawns. No teleporters.
When your writers can't define Woman, their grasp of continuity, character development, logic...just everything. Doesn't matter. If you can't define a basic physical trait of a character, nothing else matters. It's all irrelevant

Right, sometimes they really do listen to the creators. Usually the producers pay for it, whether the director listens or not is another story.

Sanderson has already created generational wealth. His kickstarter for self-published novels raised 46 million. That's insane.
I have a huge amount of respect for the dude. He's a workhorse, respects his fan, and he's not a woketard.
He's also being very selective with subsidiary rights (video games, tv/film, etc.). He's VERY conscientous about protecting the integrity of his IP.

Simon Tolkien is apparently an advisor for the Amzn adaptation.
I wonder, why is he letting them shit all over his father's and grandfather's hard work?
I'm $ure he ha$ his rea$on$.
I remember Nerdrotic mentioning this a while back but didn’t know why they fired him. Amazon could make so much money by respecting the lore
Amazon has money. Desecrating Western culture is how they choose to spend that money.
Burgers?
Burgers? I guess it was a typo
I was being too subtle and esoteric.

Ohhh. Gotcha. Lol
Christopher Tolkien was the world’s greatest Gatekeeper. RIP.

I'm surprised he lasted that long to begin with.
