I don't care if she went from white to black or black to Asian or Hispanic to Martian. The customer paid for something and they changed it to something else. Offering refunds is the objectively correct thing to do.

I really wish that was standard across the board. I should always have access to the original version of something I paid for, if that's not possible then give me a refund.

As someone who used to play the game obsessively and impulse bought a ton of crap, "free refund" is correct.
When you start the game, you get three refund tokens. When you use them all, you get a timer counting down one year to use another.
It's free because you don't use a refund token, like you would if you were refunding something you just didn't like using.
