well part of the problem is the voters. they demand mutually exclusive goals and act like petulant children. people have been convinced we do not live in a real nation, but just a international plot of land open to everyone with no common culture.
You just described politicians in general. Politicians lie about everything. From what they're going to do, to why they're doing what they're either going to do or are already doing. A name for a politician that isn't a two timing snake would be more useful, since those are vanishingly rare.
