The only reason Firefox makes it into the news anymore is because of censorship and political activism. No wonder they're going the way of the dodo. Good riddance.
Not good riddance, Sad! Firefox is better at some things like customization.
For example I can drag links into a windows and replace the tab instead of making a new tab, which Google prohibits because open tabs keep tracking connections open.
I would use SingleFile extension in Brave to save all pages I visit, but it puts a 50 pt high download banner at the bottom of every window on any page visit, which in Firefox you can turn off.
Lots of hard work by normal people went into making Firefox and it's a shame to have it ruined by these freaks.
I only use firefox because when you have a load of tabs open, it doesn't scrunch them up to fit on one page. It does seem to be run by authoritarian twats though. I should bite the bullet and close some tabs.
Scrolling tabs can be enabled in Chromium and some Chromium-based browsers using the chrome://flags/#scrollable-tabstrip setting.
The biggest problem the last time I tried it was lack of feedback upon opening a tab in the background like you get in Firefox-based browsers.
Great, now you've enabled him (and me) to keep our old tabs open forever.
very useful, thanks.
Just use Waterfox or some other Firefox clone. I switched to Waterfox Classic a few years ago because "new" FF stopped working with some old extensions I use.
Shame they shit the bed by updating existing users to the "new" Waterfox (based on the "new" Firefox) and are concentrating development on that now, making Waterfox Classic a separate and less-supported version.
The more people using FF forks the more sites do more testing, the more bug reports, upstream patches, and support for FF.
I despise their mental illness and the people who enable it and I want Mozilla to fail.
So I'll put up with some annoyances in Brave to 'vote with my browser' since it's the most anti-woke and being created by Eich is an extra fuck you to Mozilla. Maybe that's small and petty but I don't give a shit. Zero tolerance.
Brave is a Chromium fork is it not...
Yes, out of necessity.
Like if you use Comcast because your only other option is dialup then you aren't voicing supporting for Comcast, it doesn't mean anything.
There is no competition if Firefox dies man. The alternative is worse. If the entirety of the Internet only uses ONE browser that's bad for everyone in general.
Competition is good if it's competent. Bullshit-peddlers and far-left activists only make things worse.
It also seems that Mozilla no longer considers its browser their product. Their "products" are censorship, curation and telling people what to think. That's not really competition when it comes to browsers and that shit is a dime a dozen these days.
And you think google is nonpolitical then.
FriedFox
I'm tired of the bullshit from these woke companies. It would be less annoying if they admitted to pointless virtue signaling because they #StandWithUkraine even though this doesn't help Ukraine one bit.
Note that eBay and Amazon are also listed as default search providers. There is apparently nothing against corporate-sponsored content in the principles of Mozilla.
"contrary to the principles of Mozilla"
The relevant principle being that biased search results should have a price tag.
Firefox was bought by Soros. What did you expect?
Nothing says "we're the good guys!" like censoring shit completely unrelated to a tragic war.
Firefox is a modern day cancer.
Luckily that particular cancer is in remission.
Still sucks that most linux distros have Firefox as their default browser.
yeah they should have the more privacy respecting Chrome browser (a hearty kek was had typing this)
Fork a codebase and make one, then.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Good thing I dropped Firefox over a year ago.
How "Brave" of them...
You can try Waterfox if you really like Firefox. Waterfox got bought out by some ad company so that's still not good, but I doubt it's as bad as Firefox.
Could go IceCat if you want, Should be a stripped firefox.
Pale Moon
It has a lot of the bloat from Firefox stripped out of it but its biggest weak point is the dev's refusal to use WebKit addons, so you will have to spend a little extra time to make it work (lots of people ported some addons to work with Pale Moon), but the dev is fucking autistic about making the browser free of bugs and security holes.
The browser has a shitload of options and you can make it look almost exactly like Firefox 3.6 before they went into that stupid rapid release cycle
Pale Moon is no longer a full fork of Firefox as well. The dev actually ports the security fixes from the primary Firefox branch, but internally apparently Pale Moon is very different from FF aand has its own UserAgent string as well.
Librewolf anyone? :)
I haven't encountered any yet. What's your experience been?
That is such a Ralph Wiggum "I'm helping!" move on their part.
Meh, still the best browser and always will be until Chromium does something about its atrocious font rendering.
LibreWolf is pretty excellent if you're looking for sensible privacy-oriented out-of-the-box configs.
removing their addons? this will surely help the people of ukraine now!
what people in ukraine? - ffox faggots
Yandex = Russian google with even more questionable stuff.
bruh what is up with you, you are just repeating MSM propoganda type stuff lately. does yandex do everything that google does? own home automation? make streaming hardware? even a site like youtube?
You know very well what I mean by that. Don't grasp at straws.
