I'd say that we should probably separate Africa and Asia into smaller regions as well.

I learned it as the Near East, Middle East and Far East.
The funny thing is that the middle term is so assimilated that people in the Middle East itself use it.
In Poland the Middle East is the Near East (Bliski Wschód).
