The juvenile justice system is there so that juveniles are kept out of general population and in a corrections environment more suited for them. It has nothing to do with the crime you committed or when you committed it. Committing crime at a young age might be a mitigating circumstance, but it's not a reason to go to juvie if you're no longer a minor. Often they are transferred to regular prison at 18 even if they went to juvie to begin with. This doesn't make any sense.
