nah in my experience there's a subset of "transgender" people (these seem to be in the majority of such people I have met) who most likely have a mental illness or otherwise have a long period of vulnerability who are told by authority figures (psychiatrists, teachers, teaching assistants etc) that all their issues are because they are trans and if they transition all their problems will go away because they are trans and that's the problem once they are the "correct gender" it will be all fixed - this is then made worse by no one else wanting to say otherwise in case they are labeled as transphobic and lose their job
so the individual is being told from all sides that they are trans and anyone that dares say otherwise is shitcanned
all too often they find out too late that they were being told a bunch of shite and either kill themselves (41%) or try to "de-transition"
On the other, their problems might also go away if they had a modicum of willpower to think for themselves and stand up when authority figures tell them wrong.
its not just one authority figure once one of them decides "this person is trans" their co-workers who are most likely of the same ideology will enforce that
and with trans re-afirmation being the only thing psychiatrists are allowed to do in many countries these days (Canada I think mandates this you cannot say to someone that the powers that be have decided is trans that they might not be trans if you do you are transphobic)
so these mentally damaged people only have people forcing on to them the idea that they are trans and that is the only possible option anyone that says different is immediately un-personed

And the most common case (and I'll include sex organ dysphoria even when I say "most common") would be pregnancy-related dysmorphias. Women who want to be pregnant when they are not. Women who believe they are not pregnant when they are. And of course, certain forms of post-partum depression, the dissatisfaction with the situation of having given birth, their body does not feel right to them anymore.
Body dysphoria or dysmorphia when it concerns sexual organs needing to be added or removed is instead usually called gender disphoria, even though the two aren't ENTIRELY the same thing, there's enough overlap. And like many disorders, it tends to come alongside other disorders, like depression, leading to that tragic suicide rate. The vast, VAST majority of disphorias cure themselves naturally over time, though. The high suicide rate statistic is only for people who are actively treated for it with our current highly lacking procedures, not for the ones who recover naturally, whose suicide rate is more or less just the general population's.
Don't lump them all into one big pile. Some are actually victims of indoctrination. They were lied to. They were shamed into it, and medical "professionals" enabled them. The doctors are the ones you need to unequivocally despise. The money they made is soaked in blood.
