Look at the origins of the Greek games, discus, javelin, wrestling, racing, all sports of physical and military prowess. I doubt you’ve actively competed in sports let alone competed well. Sports and regulated violence like wrestling are one of the best ways to teach men discipline from an early age, every great military nation would hold athletic competitions in what they excelled at because it trained soldiers.
